Arsenal player ratings from West Ham draw – Ozil MOTM

West Ham v Arsenal Player Ratings

Now that I have recovered enough from the disappointment of Arsenal only managing to take a point from West Ham after being in cruise control I reckon I can rate the Arsenal players without dishing out some zeroes. And there were some good performances from the likes of Koscielny, Elneny, Alexis and co. Iwobi provided two assists but also gave the ball away at key points so Mesut Ozil gets the nod with a well taken opening goal to cap a good game from the German.

Ospina 6 – Can’t really blame him for goals but a more commanding presence might have helped.

Bellerin 6 – Did okay especially going forward.

Gabriel 5.5 – Let his all-round game down with a few lapses that really hurt us.

Koscielny 7 – Scored another big goal and stood up better than his fellow defenders.

Monreal 4 – Bit of a shocker from the Spaniard. Went missing.

Coquelin 6 – Solid and aggressive, sacrificed as we searched for goals.

Elneny 7 – Another impressive display but also hooked for attacking threat.

Iwobi 7.5 – Two fantastic assists spoiled a bit by some sloppy passing in key areas.

Ozil 8 – Brilliant 1st half and goal, struggled with the Hammers on top, came back well and helped our equaliser.

Alexis 7 – Well taken goal and bustling performance.

Welbeck 6.5 – Worked hard and stretched the defence without a major influence on game.

subs:
Ramsey 6 – Looked pretty sharp and made things happen.

Giroud 6 – Good impact and key part in Koscielny goal.

Walcott 5 – No impact at all.

      1. Even before the first goal, Kos ala Vieira and rampaging forward, it was a great sight. I thought at the time this is more like it he cant do that when Per is in the team, he didn’t deserve to be on the losing side. Neither did Elneny Ozil and Coq, the players around them were defensively terrible. Ospia was poor too, anyone with the shortest amount of home-work would have known to come and punch and catch instead of staying on line.

    1. Ellerny was definitely the best out there with Coquelin,Ozil apart from scoring his let down is his attitude when he loses the ball. A player of his standard should take a look at Berkamp, he would not shine his boots. The days of Parlour, jungberg, Nixon Wintreburn are over, but Wenger needs to show some videos of there desire to win. Adams Veira Henry would be telling Ozil either shape up or Fu;; off Sanches too CB

  1. I don’t agree with a fair few of them. Going forward the forwards deserved those numbers but defending starts from the front. Carroll had ten shots, ten just from him, so the service coming in was a big problem. I thought Bellerin had a poor game defensively, Alexis was very poor in helping Bellerin. Iwobi, I don’t remember seeing him help out Monreal all that often. Welbeck has a great work ethic, he’s one of our best little workers, it’s just a pity that when he plays up front he thinks he has a day off from it. Coquelin and Elneny were good, but I thought Elneny was the better one before our complete melt down.

Bilic showed some tactical nous. Not the Andy C ploy we see that thing from all the worst managers, but changing his formation when they got the second goal which was still in first half. I was a little sick seeing them change back to a flat four, we like them gaps between midfield-wideman and last defender, so it was the smart thing to do by Bilic.

If only Arsene was brave enough to make decisions/changes in the first half. Lets say we were really in with a shot for this title, the win is a must win. When we went two goals up this would’ve been the perfect time to make thing more difficult for wham. The Gibbs for Iwobi substitution would have solidified our left side. Chambers coming on for someone smaller would have gave us more height, and he’d be another man to help stop the crosses or the supply. Dare I say it, Giroud still to come on if we are still looking shaky with deliveries. The players were here all you needed was some tactics, early tactics. Seeing as it’s for a title and all.

  2. whatever campbell has to do to impress wenger is beyond understanding, continually picks the near useless walcott ahead of him coz he is English, what a genius manager

  3. – Congrats to Ozil for his sixth goal in the EPL, his highest tally for far. There’s part of the problem right there, our midfield contribution to goals is ridiculous apart from the “Rambo season”.

    – Fair play to Wenger sticking with Ospina, but against a team that thrives in aerial duels you would think Cech would be picked. I had my money on Cech starting this game as Ospina is more of a shot stopper than collector who we needed in this game.

    – Sincere apologies to Per for all the bashing, I thought Gabriel would be the Gilberto Silva kind of Brazilian and not the Santo’s or Denilson one. I pray he turns it around though management should look into this position.

    – For all of Welbeck’s strengths plus his just coming back, his no WC forward the club has been crying out for in order for us to win the titles.

    – Theo, no comment!

The deference between Leister, Spurs and Arsenal are Kane, Vardy, Mahrez, Ericson, Kante, Ali, Drinkwater, Vertrogen (sp) and his partner plus dare I say it Huth, Morgan.

Conclusion, there spine is stronger and more reliable than ours!!!

  4. Elneny’s weakness exposed. He is great but can’t handle a robust and physical team. Lad needs to workout and get muscles. Once done, the potential is endless with elneny.

  5. It is no surprise we have scored 9 goals in the league with this current 11 in last 3 games, although Welbeck had a poor game against West Ham. But we still need a better striker. If we can’t get Ibrahimovic free then Sell Ox, Walcott and Grioud as well maybe and use the money to get Higuain. He has linked up with Ozil before at Real that would be a good partnership.

Next we will need a better CB, with Per and Gab fighting for the CB spot and the fourth playing in cup competitions.

It looks like atleast 2/3 of Arteta, Rosicky or Flamini might leave, the third one whoever it maybe, we have to keep for squad depth. Then buy one more to replace the two that depart.
