Arsenal ready to accept transfer bid for star defender?

After a slightly less than impressive debut season for Arsenal, well half season as he joined us in the January transfer window, Nacho Monreal has really come good. Even with Kieran Gibbs fit and in form last season, the Spaniard had cemented his status as the first choice of Arsene Wenger.

And as Monreal is only 29-years old and in good physical condition, you would think that his place with the Gunners was as safe as houses. So I can only think that the player himself is keen on a return to Spain, if the Arsenal transfer rumours reported by Squawka.com and Metro are true that is.

One claims that Arsenal are in talks with a young Ghanaian left back called Abdul Rahman Baba who has just completed a great season in the Bundesliga with Augsburg. The other, and earlier, one says that Arsenal are ready for a bid of €8 million from Athletic Bilbao for Monreal, which is in the Basque country of Spain where the defender was born.

As I say, if they are correct then they must be connected and that could mean that Wenger is ready to let our best left back leave, which seems like a strange decision to me as we are as close to challenging for the title as we have been in a decade or so. What do you make of this Gooners?
