Arsenal rumours dispelled by supposed Alexis replacement´s club

Arsenal had been claimed to be set to complete a deal to bring Boca Junior forward Pavon into the club this month, but that is not the case.

Boca agreed a deal to sign former striker Carlos Tevez back to his boyhood club for the third time earlier this week, and during his unveiling club president Daniel Angelici moved to play down talk of an exit for new team-mate Pavon.

The 21 year-old has been touted to be a shock inclusion in the Argentina squad for the upcoming World Cup competition in Russia, which would no doubt raise his profile to potential suitors, and now may be the best time to strike a deal.

Arsenal have been claimed to be ready to trigger the star’s minimum fee release clause of £33 Million as they appear ready to lose Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City this month, but Angelici has insisted that no proposal has been made.

He said: “I think we’re going to count on him throughout 2018. No proposal has arrived, formal or informal, so far they are rumours.

“I know what I talked to him when we renewed his contract.

“We made a good contract to make him feel comfortable, we gave him a release clause for these cases.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also claimed that no contact has been made over the availability of his Chilean star also, but the Frenchman did make a number of statements which proved to be false last summer.

Could Arsenal just be keeping tabs on the young forward with a view to cementing their interest should they be tempted by an offer for Sanchez? Are the news sources simply clutching at straws?

  1. When Arsenal want to clinch a deal, they usually do it quietly, like what they did when getting Sanchez and Ozil. Therefore this interest could be just a smokescreen of their real interest, Lemar.

    Pavon looks great on YouTube, like Lacazette, Xhaka, Golovin, Fornals, Sancho, etc. But how is he in the big matches?

  2. Id prefer Lemar, Aubemeyang, Draxler or even Mahrez (7 goals, 7 assists so far-very useful player). Or better yet 2 of them. Signing a South American is very risky innit.

    1. My price estimations for Arsenal’s targets, in millions:

      Aubameyang -> 90

      Draxler -> 60

      Lemar -> 90

      Goretzka -> 0

      Total 240 millions, not inclusive of their gigantic salaries and signing fees. I don’t think Kroenke would approve something like this.

      1. Psg said drax is 40m. At the end of the day 1 new signing will not be good enough. 2 new signings will apease some fans. 3 will buy wenger time until the end if the season. We need a fresh aproach and nee mnager (preferably not arteta).

  3. FFS!!! YOU guys should drop the Lemar BS!! I saw this Pavon video last night, there’s nothing special or extraordinary about him or Lemar.
    Just a couple of Bust runs n some goals.
    We need Wingers that defences will be terrified of,
    players that got mad skills, fast dribble accuracy, pass and goal sense.
    Not just another normal day to day player.
    Now I know I’ll get thumbed down, but this whole Lemar thing is annoying..
    How many seasons have we seen him perform??
    That Bro has even been quiet this season so far.
    Now people are screaming Lemar,
    what if Wenger gets him then as usual, too weak to play in the EPL.
    Let’s show hunger and drive, go all out on players like Griezmann, Draxler, Isco, Rafinha, Sergi Roberto, Aubameyang, Goretzka, N a few others..
    who d hell is Pavon n Lemar

    1. Which of them is likely to come to a struggling soon to be mid-table crisis club in the Premiership?
      None of them…

  4. english clubs should focus on signing mainly english born players, maybe some africans and non spanish european players. signing south americans and spanish players is risky for the clubs cos they all want to play for madrid and baca. they use english clubs as academies and move on once they get an offer, to the detriment of the club that discovered them. a good example is fabregas and coutinho. these ungrateful bastards even completed their deal with their own money. I SAY A CAPITAL NO TO PAVON! we’ll end up building him for baca. in for zaha instead.

  5. I would be happy if Sanchez left this month and we failed to sign a replacement simply because it would be yet another nail in the managers coffin.
    Getting a new management and coaching structure should be the priority.
    You cannot tell me that all of the players at Arsenal are average or bad – its the way they are managed and coached which is the reason why we are where we are..
    Wenger is killing everything…
