Arsenal rumours dispelled by supposed Alexis replacement´s club

Arsenal had been claimed to be set to complete a deal to bring Boca Junior forward Pavon into the club this month, but that is not the case.

Boca agreed a deal to sign former striker Carlos Tevez back to his boyhood club for the third time earlier this week, and during his unveiling club president Daniel Angelici moved to play down talk of an exit for new team-mate Pavon.

The 21 year-old has been touted to be a shock inclusion in the Argentina squad for the upcoming World Cup competition in Russia, which would no doubt raise his profile to potential suitors, and now may be the best time to strike a deal.

Arsenal have been claimed to be ready to trigger the star’s minimum fee release clause of £33 Million as they appear ready to lose Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City this month, but Angelici has insisted that no proposal has been made.

He said: “I think we’re going to count on him throughout 2018. No proposal has arrived, formal or informal, so far they are rumours.

“I know what I talked to him when we renewed his contract.

“We made a good contract to make him feel comfortable, we gave him a release clause for these cases.”

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has also claimed that no contact has been made over the availability of his Chilean star also, but the Frenchman did make a number of statements which proved to be false last summer.

Could Arsenal just be keeping tabs on the young forward with a view to cementing their interest should they be tempted by an offer for Sanchez? Are the news sources simply clutching at straws?
