Arsenal should not expect weak PSG despite injury news

There is some injury news ahead of the Champions League clash between Arsenal and PSG you say? Well that will be more problems for the Gunners then right? Actually for one it is not, as of the two clubs fighting it out for control of group A it is the French champions that were handed problems on the injury front ahead of this European tie.

Arguably their most influential player Angel Di Maria was brought off before the end of their French Ligue 1 match against Nantes on Saturday after picking up a knock. That is not the only problem that PSG have for their trip to London either, as their injury list also includes Javier Pastore, Adrien Rabiot, Layvin Kurzawa and Alphonse Areola.

However, the last thing that Arsenal should do is to take this to mean that we will have an easy task on Wednesday. For one thing, the Evening Standard is reporting that Di Maria should be fit to face the Gunners and was only taken off as a precaution.

None of the other players on the list are really key players for the French team, apart from maybe Rabiot who has become a regular starter for them in central midfield. When you compare their problems to those facing Arsene Wenger, however, with important Gunners like Cazorla and Bellerin out of action, then it is the visitors rather than us who have been helped by injuries.

Will this count though, or do Arsenal still have enough to beat PSG and seal top spot and an easier ride in the knockout phase?

Bob.

  1. PSG will not be weak and they may be winning in France, but Arsenal play in the toughest League in the world and are 18 games unbeaten. There is no reason why we shouldn’t expect to beat them at home.

    1. We need to be really at it though. Watching Che v PSG you had to admire the French champs, they had the style and the steel which Wenger alluded to us having. Also they’re continental so they are crafty little buggers, they know how to make the most out of contact among other things. We need to be really switched on, we were extremely lucky in the last encounter.

  2. Tonight’s the night. Let’s prove that we deserve to be in the European elite!
It doesn’t mater who plays, we just have to beat whoever is put in frontt of us.

  3. I have a feeling Arsenal might bottle it against PSG and come second in the group. If that happens, Arsenal will be battling for top 4 yet again this season. History all over again.

  4. Aurier, that gave Monreal a hard time is not allowed to play in UK. His visa got rejected due to his criminal behaviour.

    1. that guy is so strong and gave us a lot of problems in the first leg, i guess this is good news. hope his replacement is not as good as him
