Arsenal do have some reasons to be optimistic and believe that we can record a famous victory over Bayern Munich tonight, despite the fact that the German club are on an amazing run of form and their strikers Robert Lewandowski and Thomas Muller are on fire.
Arsene Wenger has already said that his team are facing the best team in the world at this moment, but he also reminded us that we have beaten them at the Allianz arena in recent years and the boss suggested that team was arguably better than the current version and the fact that they went on to win the Champions League that year and smashed Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate would certainly add weight to his comments.
As much as Arsenal can take heart from that away win, however, our results against Bayern at the Emirates have not been so encouraging. That 2-0 win in Germany was not enough to see us qualify after we slumped to a 3-1 defeat at home. And holding them to a draw in Munich the following year also meant little as we had lost again to them at home.
That loss, however, does offer some rays of hope because we were all over them before the game turned on Ozil´s weak penalty being saved and then a harsh red card for Szczesny. Before that the team had got the Emirates crowd enthused by the positive start and Aaron Ramsey wants to channel that energy from the Gooners tonight, as reported by Arsenal.com.
The Welshman said, “We’ve done really well away from home [against Bayern Munich]. It’s about starting the game well and getting the momentum and the crowd on our side early on. That’s what we’ll be looking to do to hopefully go on and get the win that we’re looking for.
“We’ve had some really good performances and results against Bayern, so we’re looking forward to tomorrow. These are the games that you want to be involved in, play in and test yourself in, so we’re looking forward to that.
“As a professional player you always go into every game wanting to give your absolute best. Unfortunately in the last two Champions League games we were not quite there to get the win, but our focus is now on Bayern and we are really looking forward to playing and going out there to express ourselves.”
So get gargling Gooners, because the lads need some serious support tonight as they take on Bayern and try to get the great escape underway.
On our day we can defeat anyone… LET THAT DAY BE TODAY!
It’s time for men to step up. Every winning streak has it’s end, hopefully Bayerns ends tonight!
Seems its time for the cliches to start….
allow me to start with…..
Its a game of TWO HALVESSSS
But can they do it on a cold rainy night at stoke?
Bayern crash their bus tank god we can now score goals
Admini, let’s not bother ourselves at all on Robert Lewandoswki and Thomas Muller fires. I am more than sure, the Gunners will effectively put out their fires as soon as the duo stepped on the Emirates Stadium football playing pitch.
lewandoswki … we can handle him…cos is human…messi is not
5 goals in 9 mins is superhuman.
But kos has silenced messi before so…
Keep the faith!
Gooners were there for them when we played West Ham, Liverpool and Olympiakos but our players didn’t show up
We are always there for them but they need to always show up and by show up I mean use our support to energize them and work hard for 90+ mins
No the emirates stadium is flat and has little atmosphere. The players really need the fans to be loud and vocal that gives them so much encouragement and that extra Zip.
2 years ago when we played bayern at home and shot out the blocks and should’ve got something outta the game is when the stadium was electric. I remember when we were down to 10 the fans got louder to help the lads out it was awesome
Assuming both teams bring their A game, the more plausible outcome will be a draw. From an Arsenal perspective, the home advantage and the conditions surrounding the group placement would mean that extra effort is expended at securing a point-at the very least. On any other scenario however, this will be a forgone conclusion; Bayern are indeed vastly and roundly superior. There is no getting away for this.
Wonder if there is more to the Muller interview on arsenal.com other than Arsenal playing Bayern.
Focus
The German leage is not the best in the world and after the top 4 the teams are very poor
Either lewondiwski or muller is going to be up against mertesacker … So massive mismatch number one
Ramsey against Vidal second big mismatch (not matching him against costa as that would be unfair to the lad as he is not a winger)
Lam now playing in midfield is a class act so coquellin will have to be on his top form
For me their weak spot is Alonso boateng pairing so it’s going to be down to ozil and santi to exploit and hope Alexis and Walcott to capitalise … Don’t have faith in whippet but hope am wrong
Big night ahead
Dude you literally amaze me on how little you know and how completely whiny and negative your comments are
Yawn … Another idiot Ramsey worshiper go and talk to the ballon d’or people and use your whinny football voice to complain to them
Unchanged team from Watford game, interesting.
We are going for it.
