Arsenal still working to bring in Deadline Day defender?

Arsenal have been linked with defensive additions all month and we are are now into the final six hours of the transfer window, but will we land one?

Our club has most strongly been linked with the possible arrival of Jonny Evans this month, and he appears to be the most likely acquisition as the deadline draws nearer.

The Northern Ireland international captain is believed to be open to a move, with his club trying to stand firm on their asking price. Arsenal are believed to have made offers to sign Evans this month, but have so far failed to meet the expectations of the Baggies, and there is reports claiming that we are expecting the asking price to come down as the windows nears it’s close.

David Luiz has also been linked with a possible move across London today, but that door looks to have closed following Olivier Giroud’s move in the opposite direction, with negotiations between the clubs believed to have already taken place.

Luiz has fallen out of favour in West London this term, and you wouldn’t think that the Blues would refuse to talk about his potential exit given their options, and I wouldn’t completely rule out a late bid for him if we fail in our move for Evans.

Sky Sports just reported live that Arsenal have shown a late interest in Evans, having failed with previous attempts to bring him in this month, and we are believed to be trying to re-open negotiations for the West Brom defender.

The centre-back could well become available for a measly £3 Million in the summer, subject to his club falling foul of relegation to the Championship, and this factor is believed to have been in the thoughts of the Gunners who have been keen to steal a march in negotiations.

Could Arsenal bring Evans in today? Would the Baggies captain be a better suit to our defence than Luiz?
