Arsenal Sunday transfer rumours – Martinelli, Pepe and Tagliafico updates

There is nothing really new today in terms of transfer gossip but that does not mean that there is nothing of interest, in fact, there is more clarity today than there has been in a while.

For starters the Daily Mail is reporting that former Arsenal invincible Edu is on course to being named as our new technical director, now that in itself is not strictly a transfer rumour but the same report claims that his first signing could well be 17-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli and that definitely comes under the category of transfer gossip.

The Mirror is claiming that long term target Nicolas Pepe is set to leave Lille in the summer and according to his agent negotiations have already started.

Pepe’s representative Samir Khiat told RTL “We are in discussions with clubs. No decision has been taken,”

The big question is, are we one of those clubs in discussions?

Finally, one player that is unlikely to be coming to the Emirates despite so many rumours is Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico. The Argentine’s representative gave an interview to FC Inter News and said that his client favours a move to Italy.

Like I wrote at the start, nothing new as such but certainly interesting, a young exciting Brazilian teenager could be on his way, long term target Pepe may well be in discussions with us and Nicolas Tagliafico is probably Italy bound.

Still some ifs and buts in there but with two of those rumours being backed up with comments from the respective player’s representatives and the Edu speculation having a ring of credibility to it, then I for one do feel some of the transfer gossip fog is starting to clear a little.
