Arsenal title hopes to get help from Liverpool’s League cup clash?

Next up for Arsenal in the Premier League is the tough looking trip to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool next Wednesday. Before that we have the FA cup clash at home to Sunderland and we have already heard their manager Sam Allardyce bitching and moaning about the scheduling of the games and complaining that it will affect their chances in the league.

Arsene Wenger could conceivably feel the same way, because Liverpool’s FA cup game is being played this Friday night and that gives them a bit more time to prepare for the game against us but any advantage that gives the scousers could be nullified and more by the fact that they have an extra game to worry about in the Capital One Cup.

Tonight Klopp takes his players to the Britannia Stadium to face an in form Stoke City and I expect them to field a strong side. This is their best chance by far of winning a trophy as it is already at the semi-final stage and even though the other semi is between Everton and Man City, Klopp will surely feel they have a great chance.

With Liverpool already 12 points behind Arsenal in the league and struggling find consistent form I am sure the German will see this League cup as a golden opportunity. But they will have a really tough game away to Stoke and then two more games in the next seven days, the last of which is against the mighty Arsenal.

So with Wenger planning to rest a few first team players against Sunderland, will Liverpool’s league cup antics give the Gunners a crucial edge in the Premier League race?

  1. Assuming that we can lose at least about 10 points when the season progresses, I would feel more comfortable us winning both matches against Liverpool and Stoke. We have even tougher away games coming up. We can do it.

But Sunderland first. And where the hell is Elneny? Is he coming by a bicycle from Egypt?

    1. He’s cycling from Basel mate, he’ll be here any minute. Read somewhere might be some issues with obtaining the work permit.

As an Egyptian, can’t wait for this to happen. He’s a classy player, more a CM than DM, but can definitely fill in at DM. Coquelin is a beast, so I don’t think El Neny would displace him, but he would compete with him and he would be a huge step up from flamini and arteta.

    1. More fuel added to that transfer rumour!
Aubameyang missed training today and a Dortmund player was quoted in saying that he didn’t want the striker to leave ? This looks like a real possibility now!
But where is he going? ??

      1. it is not and never was a possibility – they want 60 million
that 42 was a buy out clause- but didnt suarez have 40 million buy out clause- means nothing

plus hes happy at dortmund- he makes kevin hart peyeowww peyeoowww noises while scoring in training

        1. I hope that this is a good Omen as to the one where I announced Elneny is coming to Arsenal ??

Anyways, if he is still missing from training with Dortmund tomorrow and with no news of illness or injury then watch this space! ?

(We are not the only ones linked to him)

          1. Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has fuelled speculation over his future by missing training today.

The Bundesliga side returned to their training ground this morning after their winter break, but Aubameyang was absent.

Given that the 26-year-old has been linked with transfers to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in recent weeks.

According to Sky Sports, a club spokesman claimed the Gabon international was absent from Tuesday’s training session “for personal reasons”.

@indykaila The reason is pretty well known in fact: He missed training due to a personal appointment. Will be back tomorrow.

But the mood among the squad seemed to indicate that Aubameyang’s future is in the air at the moment.

Speaking after today’s session, defender Matthias Ginter said: “We all hope he’ll [Aubameyang] stay.

“He’s very important, on the pitch and off, for what he contributes to the group atmosphere.”

Aubamayang is currently the top goalscorer in the Bundesliga. He has scored 18 goals in 17 league games so far this season.

He joined Dortmund from French side Saint Etienne in 2013. He came through the youth ranks at AC Milan, but did not make a senior appearance for the Serie A side.

? Having a medical is a “personal appointment” No?

  2. we are going to beat liverpool because of quality not match fitness.Last time i remember we played spurs to a draw even
after playing on a thursday night. They even seemed the more jovial side with more running and commitment.
El neny will be a good signing due to the stamina which many of our players dont have

      heres some advice…eat a can of coke- eat – a – can – of – coke

  4. Elneny should be here soon but has failed work permit criteria even though he is a regular international, Egypt aren’t ranked high enough so it’s gone to appeal.

  5. Aubameyang will be a good buy. He and Oxlade-Chamberlain can rotate from time to time. But really, shouldn’t we be after deadly strikers like Tevez and Pato?

  6. Looking at Aubameyang goals reminds me of Henry the reason why i would like to see him at Arsenal so I hope to see him at Arsenal
