Arsenal to copy Man United’s RVP trick to seal key signing?

After the latest news on the contract situation of the Arsenal and Germany international star Mesut Ozil, reported earlier by us here at Just Arsenal, the easiest way to ensure that our king of assists commits his future to the club is for Arsene Wenger to do the same.

The manager’s current deal runs out at the end of this season and Ozil clearly wants confirmation on what the Frenchman is going to do after that before he signs a new deal himself. Fair enough I suppose, even though a lot of Arsenal fans will still be hoping that this season is the final one for Arsenal under the managerial reign of the 67-year old.

Keeping Ozil is a huge part of Arsenal’s hopes of success in the near future, so how about taking a leaf out of the book of our old rivals Manchester United? It was a similar situation they were about to go through with Sir Alex Ferguson having been in charge for years when they signed Robin van Persie from us (the less said about all that the better of course).

But after just one season the Scot stepped down and it came out that van Persie had been assured he would be staying and that was one of the big reasons for him to force the move. So if Ozil wants assurances about Wenger staying him why not give them to him, even if those assurances turn out to be wrong?
