Arsenal to lose out as PSG join Lacazette transfer chase?

If the latest Arsenal transfer rumours are correct and Arsene Wenger will be forced to fight it out with the French champions Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of Alexandre Lacazette, most Arsenal fans will have already abandoned any lingering hope of the France international striker coming to north London this summer.

To be perfectly honest, in a straight financial fight between the two clubs, Arsenal would always lose out to the free spending French club, who seem to have got away with riding roughshod over the Financial Fair Play rules that Wenger hoped would give the Gunners a much better standing in the transfer market.

So with the Daily Mail reporting the news from the French football media that PSG have let their interest in the striker be known, Arsenal must hope that this transfer fight is not merely about money.

There is some encouragement for us in the report though, with the new manager of the French champions Unai Emery stating that Edinson Cavani was going to be the first choice for them up front but the club needing support striking options. That might not appeal to Lacazette and hopefully his current club Lyon would rather see their player move to another league instead of joining one of their rivals.

What do you make of our chances of signing the Lyon forward now?

Bob.

    1. No to Milik we already have Giroud who misses a whole bunch of chances we can’t afford another player who squanders chances

  1. Hahahaha well the only reason that Lacazette will come to Arsenal, it’s because Lyon prefers him out than going to a rival club. Again who knows how the mind of that senile man Wenger works he might just refuse to spend the cash and PSG might just see their wish coming true.

  2. Lacazette is not worth the money Lyon want for him and the clear indication that he’s not good enough is that PSG want to sign him as a sub for Cavani not as a starter,I’d rather stick with Giroud’s 16 goals in 38 PL games then add Mahrez who can add a few more goals with Sanchez supplementing that with his 15 or so goals out of the 38 game league season!

    1. I’m not saying Lacazette is the best player we can afford…however, I think Arsenal should ask ourselves this question; DO WE WANT THIS PLAYER?
If we want him and feel he’ll add strength to the squad, we’ll get our man.
Sometimes, it’s not all about the money.

  3. Wenger is waiting for player from big clubs (like Sanchez,Ozil,Welback..)
otherwise he will do kim kallstrom

  4. United, City, Chelsea and Spurs got good forwards this summer
    Mktharyian, Ibrahimovich, Nolito, Batshuayi, Janssen

We will get Mandzukic if any

    1. I expect Jesse from real madrid.
if I were Wenger I will pay 50M for Mahrez, he can score and assist that means he will be (Sanchez+Ozil).

      1. Sanchez can assist, if he has the runners in front of him he can assist. Also Alexis has top traits which Marhez does not have. He hounds players out of it trying to retrieve the ball. Marhez is strong one end but very weak the other. Also Alexis has done it more than one season, and he done it with big clubs were the weight of expectation is huge. People say Giroud stopped Ozil from obliterating the assists charts, then, it’s only logical to presume Alexis would have gotten more for the same reasons, if that’s what you believed.

  5. If Wenger wants Lacazette, he will get him and tbh I don’t care if he gets him or not, I don’t care as I don’t really like Lacazette

I saw Janssen play against Athletico,he was very soild, we really missed out not signing him…right now,I would want Mahrez and C.Bacca….we can get both for 50m and I know we will sell one or two players to recuperate some of the money spent…

  6. OT:

Now watching 2013/2014 (Ramsey) season collections, loving it!!!!!
I wish Ramsey can rediscover himself again!! Coyg!

  7. I’m not going to pretend to know a lot about Lacazette as I haven’t seen enough of him. However, his stats aren’t that encouraging, and I herd a French journalist giving what was hardly a glowing revue. lazy, goes missing and moaning were some of the minus points.

Is he worth £40 million plus, doesn’t sound like it, but I may be wrong, it has happened once or twice in my life.

  8. It has been obvious for 2 years or more that giroud Walcott ox Campbell were not good enough attacking options to challenge for titles …wenger added Sanchez and took a failed punt on welbeck … 2 weeks to go and it’s the same thing … Le prof of denial had better put his hands in his pockets and buy mahrez and another striker or season will just repeat the disappointments of the lost decade

  9. We are very close now to that Saturday morning feeling, my nails have just grown back in time.

I don’t think Wenger is one hundred percent certain with Lacazette. I doubt it’s just his price. Someone up there mentioned they reckon Arsene is hoping a giant club ends up selling someone we may like. I think he is a gambler, and he will wait til the end to see if that happens. He would be sick if he spent forty on AL, but then watched someone probably getting a bargain like we did with Alexis. I think he’s keeping an eye on a domino effect occurring. Myself, I think we should offer Icardi 140+ a week and offer his missus a giant signing on fee.
