Arsenal to seal transfer 2nd time with Mahrez leaving Leicester?

With all the strange goings on this season, I think there is a good chance that at least two of the players targeted by Arsenal for a transfer move to north London last summer will be regretting their decision, as both Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez were wanted by Arsene Wenger after playing major parts in the amazing Premier League title win of the Foxes.

You could also say that the English striker and the Alegerian international star have played big parts in the not so great season that Leicester have had this time and in the downfall of the manager who led them to glory Claudio Ranieri.

Whether or not that puts off Wenger or whoever may replace him in charge of Arsenal, when they are drawing up the plans for the summer transfer business, we can only guess, but I expect the view will be that Mahrez at least has too much class and ability to worry too much about his dip in form.

The Algerian attacker looks set to be available at least, with Metro reporting that Leicester are braced to see him leave the East Midlands whether they avoid the drop or not. So the question is, will Arsenal still want him and will we be successful with our transfer attempt this time around?

  1. Didn’t want him then definitely don’t want him now. Not that I think he’s finished, I just think it’d be akin to the Mesut problem. The Arshavin problem, Podolski, Walcott, Iwobi. Still time for Iwobi though.

  2. Honestly, I wouldn’t sign either of them. One season wonders who will no doubt go where the mercenary money is highest once they realise that last season was a one off and their status is rapidly fading. Hence their ‘shop window’ display against Liverpool

For now though, they seem content with trying to keep those inflated wages by staying up now they have got rid of the manager.

So no, I wouldn’t ever want to see us sign them. And I’m SO glad we didn’t sign Vardy last year..

  3. The only transfer that would excite me at Arsenal is the manager’s.
    All others are side shows.

  4. Arsenal won’t sign Mahrez, we have d speedstar Walcott, we Have Iwobi, Ox, Alexis, Perez even Ramsey plays as a Winger for Arsenal… according to Wenger signing a world class winger we prevent our players from developing, Theo is still developing.. nobody has told me what Sanogo is still doing in Arsenal? And we sold Podolski and loaned Campbell

  5. Any player or players who could be a potential trouble maker in the changing room at the Emirates Stadium(Samir Nasri) and at the away changing room, and has an inner habit of staging a coup de,’etat against his manager when resuls on the field are not going his ways should never be signed by Arsenal! We the Arsenal supporters don’t want to see him or them near our club.

I think Claudio Ranieri underestimated the huge importance of N’Golo Kante at the Leicester midfield base when he thinks Leicester can do well without him and went ahead to sell him for a big Chelsea hard currency. But that latter proved to be the contrary as Leicester without Kante shielding their back four subsequently collapsed as a team with a big missing link in their engine room to effectively coordinate the team..

Well, we’ll soon find out if Leicester beating Liverpool last Monday night at the King Power Stadium was a fluke or not as their 12 remaining games in the PL pans on if Craig Shakespeare the Leicester caretaker manager can make the traitors in the Leicester’s changing room to become loyal to him so as to save the club from dropping down from the PL.

Wenger is a mystery. How he abandons the obviously better players to either rot on the bench or sell them is beyond even the AKBs.
Mahrez is a better player than those Arsenal wingers you mentioned except Sanchez. But when he comes to Arsenal now , Wenger drop him to the bench for the sake of Iwobi, Theo , Ramsey and Ox.
He won’t fare better the way we want him to unless he doesn’t listen to the manager like Sanchez .

  7. The only one I wanted from Leicester was Kante but he went to Chelsea

I thought Lucas was going to be this season’s Mahrez but Wenger only started him in FA Cup matches. So not only does Wenger not sign a Top forward, the forward he does get isn’t started in PL matches even though he has performed well the few times he has played

Wenger is completely lost in space

  8. who wants Mahrez anymore though? Leicester team is back to being bang below average. Still happy Vardy turned us down.
