Arsenal to snap up out-of-favour Real Madrid star?

According to the latest Arsenal transfer rumours the Gunners and Liverpool will be battling it out as rivals for the signature of Real Madrid winger Jesé Rodriguez. But just how much truth to the tale is there in this rumour?

Spanish media outlet MARCA are reporting that Real Madrid gaffer Zinedine Zidane has advised Jesé to keep his options open to him this summer, with Madrid looking to potentially offload the Spaniard. Jese is reportedly unhappy with his lack of playing time at Madrid and due to arrival of Morata and consistent strengths of Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema, it doesn’t seem he will become a first team regular any time soon. Despite being known as one of the biggest powers in world football when it comes to both prestige and finances, apparently Real Madrid need to sell some of their current crop in order to invest in some of the bigger targets of the window. So with this in mind, Los Blancos are reportedly still weighing up the sale of both Morata and now Jese.

Personally I’m not a massive fan of Jese because I find that he isn’t a character on the pitch that makes his whereabouts known. He isn’t a strong forward and seems to often go missing in matches, especially on the biggest stage. One positive is his versatility as he can play anywhere across the front line, making him an ‘ideal’ Arsenal target. However in my opinion there are other players in the same position who are more of a worthwhile investments instead of Jese.

Arsenal are known to be in the market for the winger this summer, having already reportedly targeted both Mkhitaryan and Draxler earlier in the window, whilst Mahrez is the latest star to be linked with the Gunners wing. Jese would add to that list for the position, but I do hope that Arsenal steer clear of this one!
