Arsenal to stun Chelsea with January transfer swoop?

Arsene Wenger may be playing down the need for Arsenal to make some signing when the mid-season transfer window opens up in January, but Arsenal fans will feel differently and are hoping that the lack of spending during the summer, when we all expected a big splurge from the club, will not happen again.

The really big name being mentioned in a lot of Arsenal transfer rumours is the Monaco and France international winger Thomas Lemar, who it seems clear that Wenger did try to sign in the summer and so we could be set to try again.

Not as big a name, perhaps, but a pretty big transfer story nonetheless, is being reported by The Mirror. That is because the player in question, 21-year old Belgian Charly Musonda, is currently on the books of our direct Premier League title rivals Chelsea.

The report claims that Musonda is ready to quit Stamford Bridge after turning down a loan deal in the summer only to be largely ignored by Antonio Conte this season. Wenger is keen, apparently, and could be set to offer the talented youngster a lifeline in January.

I know we would rather see Lemar come to north London, but what do you make of the Musonda rumours Gooners?

  1. I’m never excited to hear about another signing to add to Wenger’s endless list of “Promising” or “Talented” youngsters…

I’ll get excited about those only when the next one breaks into the first team, and doesn’t start going backwards after their first season in the bigtime (As all our young players do nowadays).

The signing of more well-established top-quality players like Kolasinac and Lacazette is what would get me excited.

  2. We don’t have to sign starters but we should be entering negotiations for the summer.

    Santi,ozil,sanchez,macey,!wilshire are all free

We should also be looking at freebies eg goretska fernandinho can juanfran gimenez de vrij … and see if we can get them on pre agreement or for a good price in jan

    1. You are spot on, goretzka and de vrij would be ideal but sadly goretzka would opt for Bayern and de vrij is close to signing a new contract.

  3. Hmm, a supposedly promising player I’ve never heard of before. Yeah, that kind of sounds like an Arsenal type signing. If we could just get one kick ass transfer window with 3-5 players of the quality of Cech, Lacazette, Kolasinac rather than just 1 or 2 while ignore glaring gaps elsewhere maybe we’d be in with a serious chance.
