Arsenal v Brentford Carabao Cup preview, Line-up and betting prediction – Welbeck to start?

Arsenal play host to Brentford in today’s Carabao Cup encounter, with a number of changes expected to be made for the home side.

The Gunners come into the match on the back of four straight Premier League wins, and will be looking to continue that form against tonight’s lower league opposition, but they will be expected to play some squad players also.

Brentford should in no way be taken lightly, after enjoying a bright start to the current Championship campaign, but it remains to be seen whether they will also allow some fringe or squad members a run-out.

Our side do have some injury issues, with Sokratis joining the likes of Mavropanos, Laurent Koscielny and Jenkinson on the sidelines.

Predicted Arsenal XI

Leno
Lichtsteiner Holding Mustafi Monreal
Torreira Elneny Smith-Rowe
Mkhitaryan Welbeck Iwobi

This team should have more than enough in it to win the match, although I wouldn’t mind seeing one of Lacazette or Aubameyang on the pitch just to further build up their confidence, and give us that star power in the match.

Eddie Nketieh could well find himself in the line-up tonight, and you could argue that he should be ahead of Welbeck for a central role in the future, and playing Welbeck there would only be to please the former United man.

As much as I’d prefer EN to start, I feel Welbz will definitely be in there, but maybe both could line-up with Henrikh left out instead.

Does this team have enough to coast to victory over the Bees?
