Arsenal v Lincoln City Match Preview, Line-up and Score Prediction

Arsenal face Lincoln City this evening as they look to cement their place in the semi-final of the FA Cup.

The Gunners got the most favourable draw of the competition or the second consecutive round, having beaten fellow non-league side Sutton in the previous round, but despite our severe dominance in ability, this looks like a potential banana skin at present.

Arsenal have lost three of their last four matches in all competitions, with only the narrow 2-0 win over the thoroughly organised non-league side from the previous round. Those three losses racked up a huge 13 goals against us, and the resilience of our last cup opposition will have enthused today’s Lincoln side.

The Imps also have the form of the tie, having remained unbeaten in their last 10 outings including a 1-0 away win against Premier League side Burnley and a 3-1 home win over Championship high-flyers Brighton.

Arsenal come into the match with some issues with Alex Iwobi, Mesut Ozil and Danny Welbeck all suffering with illnesses, while Mohamed Elneny and Santi Cazorla are ruled out from our midfield.

Predicted XI:

Debuchy  Holding  Koscielny  Gibbs
Maitland-Niles  Oxlade-Chamberlain
Walcott       Reine-Adelaide          Lucas

Ashley Maitland-Niles and Jeff Reine-Adelaide have been given the nod in cup outings already this season, and both have done well, although the former has stood out from the pair. The Alexis Sanchez situation also leaves me confused as to the prospect of his inclusion in the side, but Lucas Perez more than deserves his left-wing spot.

As much as I have been reserved throughout the preview, I cant help but predict an Arsenal win, as we SHOULD be coming away from this with a four-goal win at least, but that just wouldn’t be very Arsenal-like at present.

Lincoln will come to the Emirates and look to defend, and I can see us only getting to half-time with only one goal, but this will force them to try and come forward a little more in the second half, and I can see them earning a respectable 3-0 loss.

Will Arsenal come to life today? How many would this line-up bag v the Imps?

I expect the Arsenal flat track bullies to win this dead rubber. After all, they are lions when it comes to lower league opposition but kitties when facing half decent teams

  2. Disturbance says:

This game will give us an Fa cup smi-final and Arsene will say here you are, fighting for trophies! Isn’t that what you wanted? And we will hear the mental strength thing (even though it’s a non league side!) I just want Wenger out!

  3. Ks-Gunner says:

Wtf. What is Lucas doing in the starting line up?

    1. georgie b says:

@KS-Gunner, My first thought about Lucas is he is a good footballer. Do you agree?

      1. Ks-Gunner says:

Yeah. But for some kind of reason, he was bought just to keep the bench warm.

        1. georgie b says:

yeah Ks, those seats look pretty comfy.

  4. Fatboy Gooney says:

Seriously, I would actually love it if Lincoln beat us at the Emirates this evening. ?? I think that us getting knocked out of the cup by a non-league team would be the perfect icing on our fake cake thus far and the cherry on top would be to finish out of the top four. ?
That should be enough to make Wenger walk the plank ?

  5. Break-on-through says:

I hope we annihilate the little up-starts and then go on to claim this trophy. A cup IS a cup, it’s better than being empty handed. I was listening to a utd fan say how Arsenal aren’t set up to win anything, he said our football won’t get you anything. I pointed out, well it gets you CL football and maybe the odd FA cup. He said yeah but that’s nothing really. Then a time later we were talking about utd, and how they are going for lesser cups. He said it’s very important we get CL football and a cup won’t be too bad will it, I thought to myself is this guy serious, it’s either next to worthless or it’s not, make up your mind.

  6. Arsenal_Girl says:

This line-up should be good enough to win

I will be satisfied with any win this time
I am not looking for a huge win

I was hoping for a huge win against Sutton
but I have accepted Arsenal is an upper mid-table team.
    I won’t pretend that they aren’t anymore

A win will be good for me
I EXPECT a win against Lincoln but not in the Semis (whomever we play)
