Arsenal v Stoke Preview, Line-Up and Score Prediction

Arsenal vs Stoke Preview, predicted line up and score by KJ

After the hectic Christmas schedule, we’ve had to wait an entire week for this game which has probably been a much needed rest for the team. Stoke embarrassed us at the Britannia earlier on this season and I’m hoping the players are eager for revenge.

We’ve got a few players back from injury in Flamini, Ramsey and Özil. I don’t expect them to start but they should get minutes against Stoke allowing them to be slightly more prepared for the game at the Etihad next week.

With a week’s rest, Alexis will most likely start and his relentless pressing should see some mistakes from the likes of Huth and Shawcross. Cazorla is playing really well at the moment and he seems to have a very good understanding with Alexis.

To win this game, we’ll need to dominate possession but also ensure that we prevent Stoke from getting crosses into the box. That requires good defensive work by the full backs and wingers.

Predicted line up:
Debuchy – Mertesacker – Koscielny – Gibbs
Coquelin – Oxlade-Chamberlain
Alexis – Rosicky – Cazorla

The defence is fully fit which is a miracle in my eyes. It didn’t do very well against Southampton but I’m hoping that they’ll learn together and will improve over the next month providing they all stay fit.

Szczesny has a lot to prove after his appalling performance against the Saints.

The midfield will still most likely contain Coquelin and Oxlade-Chamberlain as Ramsey and Flamini probably won’t be risked immediately.

Rosicky was pretty good against Hull and will probably start against Stoke. He’ll aid the pressing with Alexis which should expose Stoke as they play out from the back.

Giroud will be back from suspension and I’m expecting him to really help us in defensive corners as well as providing that physical presence up front.

It will be a tight game but we should win comfortably. 2- 0.

    ————–Le Coq————-

Lets play our old style of fast crisp attacking football…I miss that arsenal.

    1. frogarsenal says:

I like your lineup but maybe Chambers for BFG so we can have all out pace in the back..

  5. Invincibles49 says:

My pride has taken so much battering this season now that I dnt really care about an emphatic or a comprehensive win. All I care is about now is a win. Score the 1st and then defend like a relgation prone team for all I care. Just f*king win the game.

  6. Zulu-boy-SA says:

No man Ox should not start in that CM position, rather have Le Coq to sit back and Rosicky as a box to box and let a winger be a winger.

  7. th14 says:

I hate watching chamberlain CM he’s so careless with the ball.

  8. fred cowardly says:

I’m happy with a win, be it 5-0 or 3-2 or 1-0 whatever as long as it’s a win

    1. fred cowardly says:

      Oh and no injuries please

  9. akuma gouki says:

    Giroud 2goals
    Alexis 1 goal 1 assist.
    Cazorla MOTM

  10. GOONSTER says:

Not a bad line up, I think we should line up like that.. All the out field players are hard workers in that line up. So I am happy with it..

And there is no way SZNY will be dropped when you guys said he had a good game against West Ham. So I think he will be given another chance.

    1. GOONSTER says:

But The Ox should start on the wing. He is too dangerous in midfield right now as he is careless with the ball.

  11. Greg says:

Come on gunners! lets beat these hooligan thugs, and get those 3 priceless points! Coyg!

    1. davidnz says:

      Hooligans? Thugs ?
      We are not playing the
      Tory/Lib FC 🙂

  12. Enigmaticben says:

I’d bet my paycheck that we will win this but a clean sheet? I’m not so sure…I’d go with a 3:1 win COYG
