Arsenal v Tottenham match preview and score prediction

Just one day to go before the first North London derby of the 2019/20 and I am going for a convincing home win for Arsenal.

To be honest, I do not usually get too worried when the game is at the Emirates, Arsenal has the far better record against them and even though form generally goes out the window in this derby I am very confident that we will be just too strong for our bitter local rivals.

For starters, I do expect Unai Emery to go with Aubameyang, Lacazette and Pepe up front, I simply cannot see any justification for him not doing so and if he does, I do not see the Spurs defence holding the line against that trio.

Of course, the defence is a worry for us as well but for me, it will be Arsenal doing most of the attacking and that will be the difference. I believe Pepe will run Danny Rose ragged, Aubameyang will do the same on the other flank and Lacazette will be the dominant man in the middle, Torreira will control the midfield like he did last year and Luiz and Sokratis will stand strong against Kane.

A lot will depend on the line ups I accept, but heart, determination and attitude will come into as well and the Arsenal lads have that in abundance right now, they showed it in defeat against Liverpool and it will be even stronger at home against Tottenham, of that, I am 100% sure.

Arsenal has the talent, home advantage, emotional stability and a united team, elements lacking at Tottenham these days and a winning margin of two goals is what I am expecting.

Predicted score

Arsenal 3-1 Tottenham

  1. Pepe would most likely cause a lot of problems for Rose, but I don’t think Aubameyang could dribble past Walker-Peters

I wouldn’t be surprised if Lacazette would be withdrawn after sixty minutes and replaced by Aubameyang

Ndombele is injured, but our midfielders still have to face big opponents, such as Sissoko, Alli, Wanyama and Dier

However, I believe Ceballos, Willock and Guendouzi would be able to outclass the huge lilywhites, as long as those young players play in an attacking formation

      1. You’re right Sue, I just checked it on the Fantasy EPL

But Spurs still have Aurier, although he has not played any game yet

    1. Sad Tanguy Ndombele won’t play in the derby. I hope he is in the team when we humiliate them, sick and tired of hearing Tanguy this, Tanguy that, basically trash talk.

  2. From what I’ve seen of spurs so far there looks like a bit of a problem in their team. They have an unsettled dressing room with certain players and might be a bit of stagnation so I see this game as a great opportunity for arsenal to come away with a convincing performance and 3-1 win. The big worry is red cards and with Xhaka and Luiz in the side it could well happen Sunday.

  3. After the Liverpool game i realized I don’t need to raise my expectations too high.
We should take every game one step at a time like Leicester did to the title. It’s a game of football tomorrow so any thing can happen.
I expect Arsenal to win or draw tomorrow, a defeat will not be acceptable.

Emery has a major role to play with selection and formation. Let’s hope he gets it right this time and we get a positive result.

  4. Ozil should not play in this highly competitive, full blooded game. His day is hardly never.
Just because he is a pin up poster boy who sells shirts to young and impressionable kids (can’t see knowledgeable adult arsenal fans buying them;) doesn’t mean he should play.

Play on merit, effort And ability to affect a game.

So Ceballos to be selected and play;) Ozil to warm bench with mustafi.

      1. I’ve a actually got 2 signed framed shirts hanging in my study at home.Other than those I don’t actually buy Club Shirts. If I do wear one it’s normally to cup finals and then I tend to wear the Retro 1930 shirts.More my age @gotanidea.?

  5. These games make me nervous. It does not matter what form we are in. This fixure gets everyone and every player on both sides worked up.
We should take our home advantage and nick it 1-0 or 2-1. Because away to the spuds they normally beat us.

I say we win this 2-1. A nervy tense game.

    1. I’d go front foot attack with 3 at back with chambers sitting back as a protective DM and Guenda and Torriera bossing midfield. Ceballos to play 10 and push balls throught to PAL.

      Leno
      AMN Sok Kola
      Chambers
      Guenda Pitbull
      Ceballos
      Pepe Laca Auba

      So a 3-1-2-1-3 type shizzle;)
Show the spurs we mean business and hit em hard.

  6. Goodbye Nacho and thanks for your effort and commitment every game. Will definitely miss you and your loss will be compounded for me having to watch Kolas play left back until Tierny starts.Wishing you best of luck. And best of luck to Unai & the team too.

    1. I agree LC – our main weak point is Kolasinac. Unfortunately there’s a high probability that both he and Xhaka will start which makes things even worse and severely tempers enthusiasm for that easy win Admin is expecting.

  7. I would love to see a combination of young mids in toreira, willock and cebalos play and PAL in this match

  8. With Monreal gone I expect Emery to use AMN and Kolasinac as wing backs in a 3-5-2 system.I expect a high scoring match and feel we could scrape the points.

  9. I’m not sure what team, formation and tactics Emery will employ tomorrow, but I really do hope he fields an attacking team. Since he tinkers so much, I said it a few days ago too, that why not of field a 3-1-2-1-3 system, with Luiz playing in front of a 3-man defence, and Ozil playing behind Auba-Laca-Pepe.
Ceballos and Torreira behind Ozil will help them play their natura game too.

    Aubameyang. Lacazette. Pepe
    Ozil
    Ceballos. Torreira
    Luiz
    AMN. Sokratis. Chambers/Kola
    Leno

A big thanks to Nacho Monreal and hopefully the club will make some sort of announcement before the game. He deserves it
