Arsenal will complete major signing once medical completed Thursday morning

This one has run and run but finally, Arsenal will complete the signing of Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney subject to a medical Thursday morning and personal terms being agreed.

The medical is not the usual formality because of the double hernia operation Tierney has undergone but there is little concern that will scupper the deal.

Arsenal has already had two previous bids for the Scottish international rejected but according to the BBC, the clubs have now agreed on a £25 Million transfer.

This is excellent news for Arsenal, the 22-year-old is highly regarded, he is a serial winner and has experience in the Champions League. It is also good for Celtic as they will get their highest ever fee for one of their players.

Tierney will strengthen the backline but as of yet there is no news when he is expected to return to action, that will become much clearer once the medical has been completed.

This is a transfer the fans have been hoping for all summer and barring any last-minute hitches, Tierney will become a Gunner Thursday.

    1. EVERYONE knows he’s injured
He will just be checked to
Know the extent of his injury
      If it’s really what everyone
      Believes it is

  1. Tierney is a great move. I am afraid that s all from Arsenal in this transfer window but we already got much more then we are all expected.
Looking farward to the season exp without all the deadwood Arsenal offloaded.

  2. Amazing business from Arsenal. Would be very happy to have Tierney and Luiz in the squad. Chasing out Gazidis has been one of the best changes to Arsenal, no doubt.

For those worrying about only bringing Luiz for CB, consider the fact that he’s 1. better than Mustafi (even if it by not so much), 2. he is a dead-ball specialist, 3. Holding is coming back soon, 4. Tierney is finally in, meaning Nacho can also cover at CB is needed (LB is covered adequately).

I think with Luiz and Tierney tomorrow, we will be in much better shape defensively than last season. We can reevaluate in January. Don’t forget Saliba is arriving next season as well.

I’m also hearing that we may launch a late bid for Upamecano in ADDITION to Tierney and Luiz, but not 100%.

    1. Late Upamecano bid is contingent on a variety of factors that transpire tomorrow, but as we all know, these “factors” are highly unpredictable due to the nature of deadline day.

Let us hope, but I would be pretty content with just Tierney and Luiz.

    2. 5. Luiz also can play right back and defensive midfield, so cover for bellerin as well as torreira, meaning we can sell elneny and probably recoup all the outlay on Luiz.

    3. Is Nacho at CB a positive though? He’s pretty average in that position. Still work to do to clean up the mess in that position, but happy about Tierney, and Luiz will do for now i suppose.

  3. Best transfer window I can remember for Arsenal, wow absolutely top shelf.

Pepe, Laca, Auba will horrify defenders no doubt. Ceballos offers what we miss from Santi Carzola, Tierney and Bellerin will solidify FB positions for 6-8 years, Saliba foundation for the future, Martinelli looks a gem, and Luiz as experienced CB stopgap.

Cech, Kos, Jenkinson, Welbeck, hopefully Elneny to follow. I don’t want to appear greedy by wanting Mustafi gone also.

Top 4 looking very real and Chelsea the ones to drop out.

    1. Durand, I agree with your positivity; however there will be many, who will never be satisfied.

  4. Fantastic window.
If we rewind 2 months and the talk of a £45 million budget, i for one am very satisfied with how the window has gone. We have been promised exciting signings by the club and with Pepe, tierney, ceballos, i think they have achieved that. Also I’m quite excited to see Saliba develop from 2020/2021 with a further improved holding. Good to hear emery discuss mavropanos potential and hopefully he can play some europa league and cup games this season and grow for the following season too.
We are bringing through the right blend of youth players too including martinelli, willock, nelson, Saka. They should get good game time this season.
Smith Rowe and nketiah on loan this season to get good game time and experience for them. Hopefully we can shift more deadwood later this month such as elneny. I would also like to see miki sold asap and iwobi. I fear for our young players growth if miki / iwobi are still in the squad. We could get good funds for them.
Finally I am in favour of luiz. I think it’s the right timing with kos leaving. And at 32 he prob has 1 or 2 seasons more so his experience and leadership is ready made for this season. Plus he is far better than mustafi who can stay and play cup games.
Only regret is no back up right back but can’t get it all I suppose. And also Zaha who I believe is a game changer. Just hope spuds don’t come in tomorrow for him. There is talk of another club interested in bidding for him tomorrow.

    1. Ah but we do have a back up RB in a way….. We can always play Kolasinac/Monreal if needed and move KT to RB….. He has played all across the back line and as a holding mid, and done a decent job in each position.
Just another reason it’s a blinding deal imo.

    2. The last time I checked iwobi is still a young player and he scored in the Europa final from the bench

      1. sorry. i know iwobi is young but has had plenty of chances to prove his worth. In my humble opinion, it hasn’t worked for him. Maybe if he was played more centrally it might change but for now i was suggesting to sell iwobi and Miki to free up first team squad space for nelson or Saka. its important that they are sitting on the bench on most match days ready to make an impact

    3. I don’t think selling iwobi is the right decision we need his service despite the arrival of Pepe one thing we should have in mind is injuries so should have a good replacement so let’s keep him he is good as well.

  5. Best transfer window for Arsenal in 10 years.

So in the past 2 windows we have covered key areas
adequately that was depleted by Gazidis.

    Leno – Keeper
    Torreira – DM
    Guendouzi – CM
    Sokratis – CB
    Aubameyang – ST
    Lacazette – ST

    Martinelli – LW
    Saliba – CB
    Ceballos – CM
    Pepe – RW
    Tierney – LB
    Luiz – CB

    New Arsenal!!!

  6. Tierny is injured as bellerin who has no back up, Jerkinson gone.

Make a team better is to correct weakness; that bloody defense! not increase it with kos also gone.

But add kouli and luis or umtiti to add to kos only top CB!

André Gomes, Jonas Lössl, Fabian Delph, Jean-Philippe Gbamin et Moïse Kean, and just bet 75M on zaha, rejected, palace asks 85M but will take it; we bet 45M! Sorry, they just got sidibe rb i urged for ages. They on more top players before window ends.

We are not strenghen where needed; they do!

    Everton

    1. We got pepe for 72 mill (a right winger we’ve been crying for), we got ceballos (Santi replacement), we got Tierney, Saliba, martinelli, holding and some amazing youngsters coming through. Appreciate what you got

      1. What about RB though? Who’s gonna be playing there, blunder-boy Maitland-Niles again? Even if Bellerin were fit, have we forgotten he is rubbish defensively?

    2. Enjoy the games on Merseyside this
      season.

Of all the players you’ve championed
above I would take Zaha for maybe
      £50M TOPS!

AFC have had a much better window
      and it isnt close.

    3. The grass is always greener on that side. The management fix most of our weakness area. This window is better than any one we have had in recent history. Why don’t you enjoy that and take a break from complaining.

    4. The “expert pundits” stated it would take 3-4 transfer windows to right the wrongs at Arsenal.
4 weeks ago we were all staring glummly at the tabloid back pages bemoaning our 45m transfer budget.
      How things change.
Anyone that follows this Club will know that this has been one of our most active transfer windows ever. Not quite over either, a few exits may well be on the cards.
Now, as supporters of the Club and football in general ,we get to see if the signings work. Will they gel? Will we see a “team” emerge? Will we have players fighting for the shirt?
Last few seasons there has been a malaise surrounding Arsenal, I hope to see our team truly competing and think the gradual clear out and introduction of new young players may well herald an exciting new era for my Club.

    5. our transfers make top 4 a possible achievement. Way better than our last season squad already. Yes, CB is an issue we skimped on, but our midfield will be much stronger with Ceballos, and our front 3 will be deadly with Auba/Laca/Pepe. Tierney fills a position we needed addressed, and Holding will hopefully be back some time in September which will be a huge boost. It was not the perfect transfer window, but it was a very good one.

  7. Well I’m happy right now.. happy about Tierney… just looked on Arsenal’s Twitter page & there was a picture of Kolasinac flexing his muscles ??

  8. Tierney and Luiz is good business for Arsenal.

Would have loved them to bring in Pape Abou Cisse ($10m) or Boubou Kamara ($20m) as well, both young CB’s with good potential.

Especially if we sell Iwobi for $40m.

Is a late Zaha bid coming if we sell Iwobi? Or Upecamo?

    1. Kamara or Upamecano would be an
      EPIC conclusion to the greatest
transfer window in the history of
      Arsenal Futbol Club.

      1. ACE, the greatest transfer window IMHO was the year Arsenal signed the one and only Dennis Bergkamp! ??

  9. Bellerin, Luiz, Socratis, Tierney…..bit different from, AMN, Socratis, Mustafi, Monreal. Got to be better. So Mustafi hopefully won’t play any more (hands in prayer). One problem left…..Xhaka (hands in prayer).

  10. We still need a CB
For me that has been a priority since the window opened

Unless we play 3 at the back again and play Tierney as a CB with Kolsanic/Monreal as LWB like

    …Sokratis..Monreal..Tierney
    Bellerin…………….Kolsanic

    Or something like that

I prefer 4 at the back

    1. Gunner ranks, with a bit of luck, Mertesacher and Ljungberg can assist better than Bould in coaching the defense.

    1. Most of us are forgetting Calum Chambers who has acquired tremendous experience over the years across the defense and recently the defensive midfield. While on loan last year,he was their best player. You cannot say you don’t have a backup RB ,CD or DM with such a player. He has come of age.

  11. I was very sceptical at the beginning of the transfer window, if we get Luiz I’d say a we’ve done very well and be quietly optimistic that we can do exceptionally well this season.

  12. It is last day, and knowing Arsenal, I won’t count my chicken now. I still remember the Higuain saga. ?

  13. Iwobi. Coming into to fill the space Sanchez left is going to be a big leap the question is can zaha do a Sanchez?we all know what the answer is I’ll keep my money and run away from that clone

    1. You have to be winding people up, Iwobi filling space Sanchez left? You are most certainly mad sir. You bench Auba golden boot winner?

Bench Laca who had almost twice the assists and 3 times the goals Iwobi did?

Full stop on your Iwobi nonsense, hard to take you seriously.
