Arsenal’s opponents announced for Emirates Cup competition

The Emirates Cup line-up has today been confirmed, with Arsenal to take on Benfica and Seville, with Leipzig also in action.

The competition makes it’s return after a year out, with last summer’s European Championship as well as necessary pitch reconstruction work having forced the club to cancel last year’s edition.

This year’s edition will kick-off on Saturday July 29 with RB Leipzig taking on Seville FC at 14:00 (Local Time), before the Gunners take on SL Benfica at 16:20.

On the Sunday, the German side will take on the current Portuguese champions at 14:00, before we take on the current Europa League champions Seville at 16:20.

Tickets purchased cover both matches on the selected day, giving you a full days viewing for a more than reasonable price.

Arsenal ended a three-year barren run by winning the 2015 Emirates Cup, their fourth win of eight entries, beating Wolfsburg and Lyon 1-0 and 6-0 to secure the title. The dominant win over Lyon left us clear at the top of the table thanks to the points system in play. You get a point for every goal scored in your matches, as well as three points for a win, which encourages attacking play.

Leipzig are an interesting inclusion in the line-up, with the club only being founded in 2007 by energy drink giant Red Bull when buying the playing rights of a German fifth division side, with the intention of rising to the top division in eight years, a feat they accomplished.

This term they led the division for much of the campaign, but have since succumbed to the challenge of Bayern Munich, but are already assured of their place in the top four, thus far earning an entry to next season’s Champions League competition.

Will you be looking to get tickets? What do you love most about the Emirates Cup?

    1. Wtf are you talking about?
No manager in history will ever be sacked for 2 wins in 3 days, especially if 1 of those wins is against a top-10 side in the world..
Win ugly – complaints… lose pretty – complaints..
