As lf Arsenal Would Want This ex-Liverpool star!

Have Arsenal Really Tabled A Bid For This Former Liverpool Star? by AT

As Arsenal look set to finish the season on a high note, there is no denying that Arsene Wenger still has to bring in reinforcements for the next campaign to have a more realistic push for the title. But while a defensive midfielder and a prolific striker may seem like the priority, the Metro are reporting that Arsenal have tabled a £3.6million for the Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Arbeloa.

The former Liverpool star is said to be unhappy at the Santiago Bernabeau and looks set to leave the club in the summer with a move back to England on the cards. Though primarily a right-back, the Spanish international can play in central defence and in midfield as well, making him a very versatile and experienced addition to any squad. But do Arsenal really need him?

Personally, I don’t think so! Arsene Wenger already has three right-backs in the squad in the form of Mathieu Debuchy, Callum Chambers and young Hector Bellerin, and let’s not forget, Carl Jenkinson is having a fine season on loan at West Ham. In addition, the current Arsenal squad is already blessed with so many versatile players that I really don’t see the need for another one to come in.

Quite honestly, the story doesn’t seem to have much credibility, it seems to be a case of the media getting wind of Arbeloa’s unhappy situation in Madrid and trying to sell a story based on that. But in the off chance that Arsenal’s interest in the player is indeed genuine, I’m sure that most Gooners will agree with my opinion that we simply do not need him.

So much paper talk I am surprised not to hear us linked to maradona

    1. ArseneIsYourDaddy says:

We were linked to Madonna, not Maradona.

Got 3 very good Rb, no need for him.

    Come on Blackburn

    1. Goonsquad8 says:

Arbeloa is so past it now he gets torn up by players in la liga I can only imagine what strong pacy wingers would do to him in the prem

If anything, Arbeloa is going to Chelsea. That guy’s in love with the MoMo

    Common Admin…. Metro??? Seriously…LOL

  4. gooner100 says:

Wtf…have you ever read the Metro?

Few examples of current ‘news worthy’ stories – Tube passenger pees in a bottle and leaves it on seat, Woman makes money eating and farting for men on camera, Meet the 19 year old women trapped in a toddlers body….and you thought the Sunday Sport had long gone!

On balance, after careful consideration, I believe we can safely disregard what the Metro says.

people are so quick to think that we are already in the final. Don’t you guys remember Reading putting 5 past us a couple years back? Can’t underestimate them

We will have the whole summer to talk about transfer rumours.

Right now I’m interested in the PL and FA Cup.

But agree that we have enough RBs. Could use another young LB though

  8. ButtFlaps says:

We dont need Alvaro Areola!!! We need Scnhiederlin, REUS, cech. PLANE AND SIMPLE!

    1. Mesut O-healed says:

We would probably see Pele join on club before Cech ever does. Jose won’t give a guy of his caliber to a rival.

  9. Hafiz Rahman says:

if he can improve the team sign him up…we can loan both Jenkinson and Bellerin out for experience

  10. Mick The Gooner says:

We were linked with him in the summer too. No logic behind it since we had just signed Debuchy and Chambers. Simply agent’s talk trying to get a move.

  11. Arzenal says:

I have funny feeling about us and liverfool in the final.
Hope we can show michel Owen who’s the best again Incase he missed the last much at the Emirates
