Bellerin signs a contract and picks up an injury! Typical!

It was looking like a very good week for Arsenal fans and Hector Bellerin, with the Gunners right-back apparently signing a new long term contract. However as with every international break that falls upon us, there’s inevitably bad news just around the corner.

Finding out that Alexis Sanchez has picked up an injury that could leave him on the treatment table for a number of weeks, was not good news at all. But to then hear that Hector Bellerin may also be struggling for fitness, means that perhaps the November curse is yet again upon us.

Reports in Spain are saying that Bellerin has picked up a slight niggling injury and that he isn’t 100% fit to play a part in Friday’s match against Austria. The Spaniard was snubbed from the senior Spanish national team, but he was yet again present in the Under 21’s squad. Bellerin’s setback is not believed to be serious, but it is still disappointing news that could result in the Arsenal star struggling for fitness on return to first team duties.

Bellerin has struggled a lot with fitness in recent weeks, with the Arsenal star also not travelling to Bulgaria for our last Champions League match against Ludogorets. However a return against Tottenham in the North London derby seemed to put those injury concerns to bed.

Bellerin is reportedly close to agreeing a new long term contract at Arsenal, that will suppress the waves of interest coming from Barcelona and Manchester City. It is being reported that the young star will become one of the club’s big earners, with a deal around the £100k per week mark being offered.

Let’s hope Bellerin’s injury concerns aren’t too serious and that he returns to fitness in time for what is a very busy November schedule.

  1. In a perverse way the fact that the likes of Sanchez and Bellrin may not be involve in international duty because they have minor injuries may be advantageous for Arsenal. It means that these players may potentially get a rest and if the injury is not that serious they could also be available for the start of the next gruelling section of the premier league games. Let’s not forget Ozil is also having a ‘rest’.

  2. Wenger and his damn politics. He keeps playing sanchez at 9 to get him signed for another 4 or 5 years. He should’ve played Giroud against ludogarets and/or Tottenham but NO, he needs the signature so let’s keep playing sanchez until he breaks. This pandering to players at the expense of trophies needs to stop, wenger needs to do what’s best for the team to succeed not catering to ‘special’ players. Now he won’t play against Man U and without him i really can’t see us winning that game. Just tired of this team and their usual demise when it counts the most.
