Bournemouth excited about Wilshere but why is Sanogo still at Arsenal?

Our very own Jack Wilshere will finally play some regular football on loan at Bournemouth, unless of course he gets another injury. There were rumours that he demanded a loan move after Arsenal bought yet another midfielder in Granit Xhaka, and Jack was left out of the starting line-up Arsenals opening three matches.

Whether that is true or not, Wilshere was inundated with offers from clubs wishing to have him on loan, and the Bournemouth chief executive Neil Blake is more than happy to have won the race for his signature. “Jack is a fantastic addition to the club.” Blake said.

“He is a player that needs no introduction and one that, quite rightly, our supporters will be excited to see in a Bournemouth shirt.

“He will bring a wealth of international and Premier League experience, so we are delighted to be able to welcome a player of his calibre to the club.”

Let’s hope Jack settles in quickly down at the seaside and helps the Cherries to take points of lots of our rivals this season…..

So Jack has gone, another surprise was Joel Campbell going out on loan to Sporting Lisbon, but we really have to ask why Yaya Sanogo has been kept in the squad? According to the Metro, Leeds made an approach on deadline day to take him on loan but the move was blocked by Wenger so that Yaya could be an emergency measure if both Perez and Giroud both get injured at the same time.

Could that be true? I can’t imagine Sanogo getting a game unless every single striker and winger at the club got injured at the same time!

Anyone got any ideas on this? Surely Wenger doesn’t still think Sanogo will be a success at Arsenal in the future?

  1. Reeeeeeaally crossing my fingers Wilsh stays fit!! His passing range will work wonders for their counter-attacking 442…
Sanogo’s still here for one reason… Chaos.

  2. Give me the Sanogo that came on against Hull City in the FA cup final and I’ll show you a striker who would take the EPL by storm.

  3. You say “unless every single striker and winger at the club got injured at the same time!” as though this isnt arsenal. I remember a few Februarys where we had more injured players than fit ones.

That said, I think Sonogo is being retained so that he can train and learn with our squad and be assessed for the long term, as he is now 23, too old to be one for the future, and his contract runs out next summer.

  4. Just loaded FM 17 with LFCMarshal transfer update, and I realize Sanogo is still there!? haha then I saw this article, whata coincidence!

Anyway, I can see why Wilshere is loaned out, playing the game itself makes it an impossible task forme to fill in Wilshere. Cazorla and Ramsey/Xhaka is irreplaceable in CM

  5. Sanogo has the opportunity to learn from the squad , while getting games in the under 23 or cup games. He seems to always know where the balls going to end up , but does not have the killer instinct to finish off the chances. he has physical strength and is quicker than Giroud, but lacks the french man polish (even though he miss a lot of chances). Sanogo is also injury prone, but if he can get some run of games in the under 23 and stay injury free he can become a good option

  6. Has Sanogo played in any U23 games so far? He did not play in any of the preseason games that many of the younsters played in. I don’t understand what they are thinking for him

  7. On 19 august wenger said ‘We have Olivier Giroud, Sanchez, Theo Walcott, Chuba Akpom, Danny Welbeck and Yaya Sanogo who is still here but is injured at the moment — the players we buy have to be better.’

So sanogo is injured but there appears to be no further information. It may be the case that he is still here because we cannot loan or sell him due to his injury.
