The milestones in the Arsenal career of our long serving manager Arsene Wenger have been coming thick and fast in recent years. Hardly surprising when you see things like the fact that during his time in charge of the Gunners Wenger has come up against a staggering 232 managers and that is just in the Premier League.
So it is 20 years ago to the day that Le Prof started his new job with Arsenal Football Club after the sacking of Bruce Rioch and the temporary reign of Stewart Houston and then Pat Rice who was to become his long serving assistant. There have been some great times for the Gunners under Wenger and after a long barren spell the Frenchman rolled back the years recently with back to back record breaking FA cup trophy success.
But his milestones have not been days to remember on the pitch of late, most notably and painfully that 6-0 drubbing at Chelsea when Jose Mourinho and his team really spoiled the occasion of Wenger’s 1000th game in charge. This weekend sees Arsenal face the same team on an even bigger anniversary for Wenger and the players need to get it right this time.
That dark day two years ago saw us produce and lacklustre and spineless performance and there were suggestions that all the talk of history and the past got in the way of the preparations. Will Wenger make sure it does not happen again to spoil another party?
Bob.
Happy Anniversary Monsieur Wenger
Many Thanks for the:
3 PL trophies,
6 FA Cups ( back to back twice)
6 Community Shields
And the invincibles
I sincerely appreciate it
However we haven’t won a PL trophy under your leadership for a dozen years
That’s too long imho
If we don’t win this year, it would be better to part ways
I believe in Loyalty up to a point
still puzzles me why this windows buys wasnt last windows.
wenger could have done like saf an left with a league title- thats a drop the mic…wenger out move right there
all we would have had for competition was leicester while all teams were in transition
now we have a newly reinvigorated man city and liverppol, man u and chelsea all with reinforcements
will never understand him
This is a different Arsenal that will be facing a different Chelsea tomorrow, So Give up with the fear mongering lol ?
As always everything will depend on Wenger’s team selection and preparation… In other words I hope that the player’s prepared themselves well for this game, since the leaked news that an Arsenal player revealed to Mo that Wenger doesn’t do jack ? during training lol.?
The evidence is there when you look back to the Utd game at the Emirates, where the players private meeting amongst themselves inspired them to a 3 nil win. ?
Wenger will retire soon. Winning something, hopefully the BPL before then would be a brilliant way to part with the club, or at least the managerial position. He has made some decent signings this season, our team has a solid backbone and a plethora of options up front, not to mention squad depth as a whole. Chelsea will be a big test this weekend more mentally than anything else, if we can push past them with three points, it will build a good foundation for the rest of the season.
We all know how is 1000th game anniversary went( that 6-0 meh). Hopefully this time it goes the other way around and give them a 6-0 whacking .COYG
a win vin
just ffs beat chelsea
for once wipe the smirk off diego costa and fabregas face
tired of being there b*tches
just ffs beat Chelsea!!
In games like these skills, training, coaching plans all go out of the window. The only thing which counts is passion! passion! and more passion!!
Let’s be honest and realistic, wenger won’t adjust or change tactics. You will see both full backs bombing forward at the same time exposing the centre back’s, Coquelin thinking he’s a striker these days and if giroud starts making that face when he misses a sitter that makes u want to punch him.
Chelsea are big strong and will always use the same tactics bully until submission oh and the acquisition of Kate the best D.M bar none in the premier league just adds to the fact we have a very slim chance.
Wenger should send the team out to concentrate on not losing first n foremost, be solid and getting a draw even isn’t the worst result.
Lose and that’s even the tiniest of glimmer of possibly challenging this year out the window. Bottler tag bk and Media to have a field day with the ” Same old Arsenal ” Headlines.
Iwobis defensive frailties are going to cost us big time mark my words.
Cech
Bell mustafi kosc Non
Santi Xhaka coq
Walcott ozil
Sanchez
Um Coq stats better than Kante
If Coq played for Leicester and they won you would fuss about him
Wenger loves repeating mistakes, so it a possibility.
Below ratings as per who scored:
Kante 6.91
Coq 7.26
Coq better tackles, intercepts, dribbles and blocks
Kante only more clearances
That’s for 2017, facts ate facts so stop with this BS
Deluded fool as simple as that
Perez must start. sanchez vs ivanovic. el nenny and xhaka in the middle. and play a fast game from the get go. No ramsay, no giroud means we have a chance.
When i compare players for players…I think we have an edge. We need our players to maintain their calmness with Costa – we can sileence Chelsea for sure. I tip Sanchez for a good game.
