Can Arsenal FINALLY give Wenger a HAPPY anniversary?

The milestones in the Arsenal career of our long serving manager Arsene Wenger have been coming thick and fast in recent years. Hardly surprising when you see things like the fact that during his time in charge of the Gunners Wenger has come up against a staggering 232 managers and that is just in the Premier League.

So it is 20 years ago to the day that Le Prof started his new job with Arsenal Football Club after the sacking of Bruce Rioch and the temporary reign of Stewart Houston and then Pat Rice who was to become his long serving assistant. There have been some great times for the Gunners under Wenger and after a long barren spell the Frenchman rolled back the years recently with back to back record breaking FA cup trophy success.

But his milestones have not been days to remember on the pitch of late, most notably and painfully that 6-0 drubbing at Chelsea when Jose Mourinho and his team really spoiled the occasion of Wenger’s 1000th game in charge. This weekend sees Arsenal face the same team on an even bigger anniversary for Wenger and the players need to get it right this time.

That dark day two years ago saw us produce and lacklustre and spineless performance and there were suggestions that all the talk of history and the past got in the way of the preparations. Will Wenger make sure it does not happen again to spoil another party?

Bob.
