Arsenal fans will be expecting Arsene Wenger to make at least one more transfer addition to the current Arsenal squad after he secures the signing of either Thomas Lemar from Monaco or Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City as the football press seems to think will happen.
But even though the Frenchman has suggested that he will add more strength to the Gunners, we have no clear idea of which position he is looking at. It could be another right back I suppose, especially if Arsenal manage to offload Matthieu Debuchy and Carl Jenkinson this summer, but as long as the rumoured transfer back to Barcelona does not happen we will have Bellerin as first choice and there are options with Chambers and Holding, while Oxlade-Chamberlain looked good as a wing back in the back three formation.
For me it would have to be central midfield and one of the best players in recent Premier League history in that position may just be available to Arsenal in the shape of Nemanja Matic. I think it is odd that Chelsea are willing to sell him but apparently the Serbian is not part of Antonio Conte’s plans.
He was reported to be heading to Old Trafford but after Manchester United hijacked the transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea the EPL champions have apparently blocked the transfer, so maybe Wenger should try to excploit this strife between the clubs and put in a bid for Matic to add the strength, steel and ability that we have so often lacked in the middle. Yes buy him 20-25000. We need an experience deep midfielder to get back in to the European champions cup next season. There’s room for him. Plenty of games . We must go all out.

If we are getting a DM then he should be challenging Xhaka and not pairing up with him.Otherwise we will only see a repeat of what happened last season in the centre.The best thing Arsenal have to do is go for a box to box player who can defend very well.Matic fits the bill very well but he was so poor last season and to me it’s not a risk worth taking since many other players are available.I would like to see Arsenal get Renato Sanches or Jakub Jankto.They are both young and play with a lot of maturity and have a lot of quality.
In what world is Granit Xhaka a DM mate. Xhaka is the box 2 box player how will pairing a W/C DM with Xhaka see a repeat off what happened last season, is because Xhaka and Let Coq didn’t work together. Let Coq is a squad player not a W/C DM. Put Fabihno, Matic or Kovacic next to Xhaka and our C/M pairing would be pretty formidable. A B2B player that defends well will work as well but I think Xhaka/Fabihno pairing would be perfect.

Matic is a pretty average player. Why would we go for him? there are way better options out there than him.
Matic would have been great in the 4-2-3-1 before we got Xhaka.
However now in a 3-4-3 with an injured Cazorla, it would be better to get someone like Seri or Lemar.
Sorry I don’t think matic is a good buy blesides we need 2 more players to really compete. We need another winger and James Rodriquez Wouk be the perfect signing. We also need a major upgrade in midfield we have good players but the problem is they can’t stay fit.
I recognize that Xhaka didn’t have a great first season but there were signs of improvement late last season when we switched to 3 a the back. We spend a boat load of money on him, does it really make sense to go for another DM?
For me, we should focus on more of a creative midfielder. Santi was sorely missed and Ozil disappears for patches. Why not look for a creative midfielder who can both play the ball out from our own 3rd (like Santi once Ozil arrived) but also has the ability to play further up the pitch.
Matic as solid as he might be is not a creative genius. We need to plan for life after Santi and look for a player that has skills similar to Santi, a player with great technique, strong on the ball, good vision, dribbling skills to get out of tight places and a player that brings calmness to his teammates.

Matic? Please, check what wish…too slow and weak, he would weaken our midfield further, him with xhaka would be calamity. Ofcoz our mid I’d weak, but don’t weaken it further in dreams, you can do better. Cavalho et al is the kind of midfielder we should be dreaming about
You NOOBS!!! carzola, even though a creative player wasn’t important because of his creativeness to arsenal. we have many players in the dressing room who are creative. what santi did, that no other player did was link our midfield with our attackers. unlike xhaka who looks for that final ball to get the goal, santi prefers to play short one twos with players and dribble past opponents. that is what we are missing. penetration from midfield. we need ppl to run at the opposition. that is what we desperately need. santi did that, he destroyed opposition players with a juke here and a juke there, a twist in and a twist out, left foot and a right foot. so we need someone like seri from NICE.
