Can Ozil’s contract and Arsenal’s new strike force lead us back to the Champions League?

Arsenal have made three massive signings this January in Aubameyang, Mkhitaryan and I include Mesut Ozil, because even Arsene Wenger considers him to be a crucial new signing. “It is,” the Boss said. “because many predicted that he will not commit and not sign for us. Overall it’s good news for us. When you look at the transfer market today, the fact that you can keep a player of that calibre is of course good news. The fact that he committed for a longer period shows as well that he will have to do that as well on the pitch and lead the team.”

So the second half of the season will see us with a brand new strike force, with Mkhitaryan providing the crosses for Aubameyang to score, and with Ozil as the playmaker giving the pinpoint passes to both of our front men who will be hopefully waiting in the box to make use of them! So with Ozil’s role as the provide and having a massive new pay rise, does Wenger expect the German to take much more responsibility? “Yes of course.” Wenger said. “He has committed his future to the club in a period where we are in a trick position on that front, in qualifying for the Champions League. You expect that he becomes the leader and takes the responsibility to lead the team to success.”

So we should have a much more potent goal-scoring potential, and as long as our defence can sort themselves out we should start raking in the points again, but can we make up enough ground to get back into the Top Four?
