Change of plan – Kroenke tasked with Ozil’s Arsenal future

Arsenal director Josh Kroenke will now take control of Mesut Ozil’s contract negotiations, with Dick Law having previously failed to agree terms.

The German international is nearing the final 12 months of his Gunners deal, leaving a huge cloud of uncertainty over his future with the club.

Arsenal have been talking with the World Cup winning midfielder since last season, and have seemed no nearer to agreeing a new contract, and now the owner’s son Josh has had to step-in to try and prevent his exit.

Mesut Ozil has become a key player since joining from Real Madrid in a £42 Million deal, but has come under increased criticism from fans this term, with many frustrated with his supposedly dire work rate.

His creative spark is something near-unreplaceable however, and remains one of our biggest assets, but we may be forced to consider his exit for a cut-down fee should we fail to agree terms, or risk losing him for free 12 months later.

The owners appear to have given up relying on Dick Law to agree terms with Ozil prior to the summer window, and Josh Kroenke is now expected to take control.

The 36 year-old is believed to have a good relationship with Mesut, and if he can’t agree a way for the German to extend his deal, then maybe he will have to be sold come the summer.

Alexis Sanchez is also in a similar position, with his contract also nearing it’s final season, and he is strongly linked with a move away from the club also.

The summer could be a disaster with our two best players eyeing moves away, as well as the huge cloud of uncertainty over Arsene Wenger, who is out of contract in a matter of months.

Will Kroenke be able to persuade Ozil to sign? Will he now have to take over all important negotiations?
