Chelsea target jetting in for Arsenal talks?

Mauro Icardi is claimed to be coming to London for talks ahead of a possible move to Arsenal this summer.

The Argentine striker has been linked with a switch away from his club over the past 18 months, and his wife, and agent, has now been talking up a move following a dispute over a new contract.

Icardi is Inter Milan’s club captain at present, and holds a record of 57 goals in his 91 Serie A appearances for the club, since joining from Sampdoria back in 2013.

The 23 year-old has been linked with moves to Manchester City and Chelsea previously, and more recently linked with talks to join Napoli in replacement for the departed Gonzalo Higuain, but such talks appear to have stalled.

Icardi is now claimed to be set to travel to London to for talks over a potential transfer to the Emirates, with Arsenal desperate to bolster their numbers in attack.

Jamie Vardy has already turned down a switch to the club from Leicester City, while Alexandre Lacazette’s price seems to be increasing by the minute, further increasing the likelihood that he will end up staying with his current side Lyon in France.

The club are also keen on bringing in a defender this month, having lost Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista to injury, while Laurent Koscielny is yet to return to action since international duty, but is still expected to return against Premier League champions Leicester on Saturday.

I have heard some Gunners fans talk about Icardi not being the type of player to fit our style, but I have also heard many a fan say the same thing about a number of our targets. The problem is, we need a goalscorer, and there are not that many out there. We need different types of player to play in different games, and a fresh approach should surely not be frowned upon, considering we have gone some time without a league title.

Could Icardi prove the doubters wrong?

  1. Mauro I Cardiff again?
Problem with Arsenal, we talk too much…no action.

    OT:
Arsenal 3-2 Man City (Pre season friendly)
    Wenger: “…physically we look ready.”

    Arsenal 3-4 Liverpool
Wenger: We are not ready physically.

    1. Wenger constantly contradicts himself by talking nonsense,he knew full well our defence was inexperienced yet he still didn’t buy the experienced defenders we need

    2. Oh and a week before 1st match
Media: “Wenger, why no transfer activity”
Wenger : “We concentrating on Liverpool, our 1st game for now”

      Matchday: Arse 3- Liv 4
      Wenger: “Physically we weren’t ready”

Its either one or the other. Not loose both ways..

  2. Inter have new cash rich chinese owners, why would they sell their top goalscorer? This is typical media made up rubbish.

  3. If Icardi is in London then he’ll only be moving to Chelsea because Arsene Wenger and the board won’t pay up the cash needed to buy him from Inter as they are useless when it comes to making the Arsenal fans happy!

  4. Icardi rumour again?

Guys, imagine on transfer deadline.. ..Wenger is waiting and then boom, he signs another midfielder on loan. ..#Dead.. ..

  5. Every week since June, we hear that Mauro Icardi is on his way to London.
Is London that far even if he is trekking ?

  6. tired of seeing monreal elneny coquelin ramsey wilshere oxlade giroud mertesacker walcott and xhaxa on the pitch and hearing stupid rumours.
Dont worry this is wenger’s last chance.
I dont think he will sign a new contract if he has any conscience

  7. And now there’s report that Alisher Usmanov is going to sell his shares in the club and join the Everton board?

Damn! No matter what angle you look at it from, being a gunner sucks right now 🙁

      1. I doubt that will happen, London is the place to be. He says he’s in it for the long haul, he knew full well what he was walking into. He would have just bought an eve, a sou, a wham, and transformed them all by himself. Wham is in London, so he had reason to want Arsenal.

  8. @admin ,your comments sucks!!
This is evident in the numerous thumbs down you get.
You are happy with the way our beloved club is ran?
I feel like punching you when I read your comments if you were somewhere close to me.
You and other delusional akbs have no clue what is wrong with our clubs.

    1. We lost a match dude, of course the negative ninnies are out on patrol, of course they’re more likely to thumb up a rant. As we await signings people are agitated. The mood is low, you should have more respect for someone refusing to lay down.

And as for punching someone for not being an annoying little nark, go to the Emirates, the peer pressure there swings the other way.

  9. I hope it’s true because we need a striker and time is running out. If Icardi were a huge name playing for a giant club it would be different. We should be able to convince this player to move, and we should be well capable of prying him away from Inter. If we are serious about this player, then lets make it happen, it’s not like he’s Lewy and we’re trying to steal him from Bayern. Even if Inter do have money from new Chinese owners, the Prem looks to be the place to go these days, with all the new coaches and the most expensive player, maybe soon to be players. Allot of statements made in English football, you’d be a fool for turning it down for anything other than Barca and the like.

  10. He doesn’t seem to be that much of an improvement over Giroud but he is young so time for him to improve

At this stage in the transfer window, beggers can’t be choosers. I would get Mahrez as well since Icardi isn’t a prolific or WC striker
