Comeback kings – how the Arsenal players responded to win over Aston Villa

More Arsenal players than usual took to social media to celebrate the 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The amount of tweets from the players shows how important the victory was, especially the manner of the win, coming back twice with only ten men.

It was a remarkable win considering the circumstances and the players are entitled to show their satisfaction and relief. Even players that were not involved in the game like Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil joined in the celebrations.

It was noticeable that there was no such tweet from Ainsley Maitland-Niles, not even an apology but in all fairness, he has not been active since August on Twitter.

Another noticeable absentee on Twitter was Shkodran Mustafi, he does like a good tweet, he did after the Europa League win in Frankfurt, maybe he is a little peeved at being dropped for the game against Aston Villa, who knows.

But regardless, it is nice to see the players in a happy place after recent weeks.

  1. Yes. We did a fine job coming back with only 10 men.

However, we should have done better in the first half. We were already down before Niles got red carded

Happy we won but should have had a better start at home to villa. I’m happy Pepe got on the score sheet too

Now we need to rest our starters against Nottingham Forest

  2. I cant wait for Ozil to tear Nottingham forest apart, he look well rested and ready to go, mesut the best playmaker in the world, go and tear Nottingham.

  3. Emery probably still resting Ozil, from his exhausting and debilitating 70 minute appearance a week ago.

Besides, Emery too busy gassing up useless Xhaka to spare a thought for Ozil.

Ozil can’t buy an opportunity, yet Xhaka can’t seem to miss a start despite performance. Love how Emery publicly called out fans to support Xhaka, yet won’t publicly call him out for costing team points.

  4. guessing ozil plays tomorrow. all that rest was for nottingham forest. Sounds believable ?. Martinelli will hopefully get a chance finally as well, and Holding back would be nice. Balogun for starting striker to give Auba a much needed break?

  5. Tomorrow is such a great chance to see a back four of Bellerin, Holding, Chambers and Tierney with Torreira sitting in front of them. Fingers crossed.

  6. Kudos to the team for showing the fighting spirit to stage that comeback with only 10 men.But would we have been allowed to do that against better sides than Villa? I don’t believe so. And why is it yet again we are so lethargic and complacent during the first 45 minutes. This was a trend that started during the AW final seasons and seems to be a trait we are determined to live up to.Guess what boys? The game is two halves of 45 minutes.Try starting off games as you seem to finish them.It doesn’t half make it easier
