Debuchy and Giroud want out but where will Arsenal strengthen in January?

Arsene Wenger is not renowned for making many additions to his Arsenal side in the January transfer window, but he may be forced to bring in some new faces if both Olivier Giroud and Mathieu Debuchy get their wish to depart for first team football in the New Year.

Debuchy nearly went back to Ligue 1 in the summer, with Wenger’s blessing but it fell through, and he is adamant that he is hoping to get some offers after proving hhis fitness in six Cup games for the Gunners. “I want to leave, to find a new challenge in January. The fact I’m playing well will give me opportunities,” Debuchy said. “We’ll see if there are good opportunities in the transfer window. I’m open.”

Giroud also nearly joined Everton, and has also admitted that he is keen to leave if the right offer comes along.  Giroud said: “If I wasn’t able to leave this summer, it was because of the opportunities I had.

“It wouldn’t have been good to leave for leaving’s sake, but it’s certain that eventually, even in January, I’m going to have to ask myself the question again.

“It won’t be easy to find the right solution and take the right decision, but we’ll look at the opportunities.”

Wenger has already stated that he doesn’t want to lose any players, and he has now come out and admitted that any new arrivals are unlikely next month.

“You do not imagine that we will change 10 players in January,” Wenger told beIN Sports. “It’s 90% that it’s the same squad.

“If we can find some additions to strengthen our squad we will do it, but we have a big squad. I think we have players of quality. We need just to stick together and fight as we can until the end of the season. I believe that we have to be faithful to the players we have at the moment.”

Would Wenger really stop Debuchy and Giroud from leaving if a good offer came in? And what other positions do you think that Arsenal need strengthening in if we delve into the market?
