Defensive Arsenal and Chelsea target eyeing exit door

Kalidou Koulibaly has talked up a summer move from Napoli, whilst confirming interest in his signature, with Arsenal and Chelsea both linked.

The defender has impressed since joining from Genk in 2014, and is believed to have attracted a host of interest in his signature.

Arsenal are claimed to be eyeing a move for the centre-back, with both Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker failing to earn a regular starting role alongside Laurent Koscielny this season.

The Senegal international could be set to put himself in the shop window, having claimed that his club are ‘interested in making money’, and also stating that their is no new contract likely to be offered to him.

He said: ‘Big clubs want to sign me and there is no sign of a renewal with Napoli.

‘The negotiations for a contract extension have stalled and they never wanted to discuss with us.

‘No, I have not talked to [Antonio Conte] but that may be soon. If nothing happens at Napoli, I will start to have contact with other clubs.

‘The game In England could be suitable for me but I like Italy, I do not press for a transfer but I hope to sign a renewal with Napoli or we proceed to other solutions.

‘Napoli also wants to make money.’

Chelsea are reported to be leading the chase for his signature at present, which could be due to the manager’s preference to play three centre-backs in his favoured formation, while John Terry is also expected to endure a more limited role with the club next year.

Arsenal can offer Champions League football on the other hand, and should look a more attractive prospect this summer.

Should we try and beat Chelsea to the punch and make an early offer for the defender? Or is there better options available?

  1. as much as i wld like him 2 join us., I believe he’s angling for a new contract…’big clubs want me’ ???? who touts himself up nowadays???? anywaiz, if Napoli r willing to sell, I’m quickly slam them with £20m…he’s very much worth it considering otamendi and mangala, baily were over £30m each

  2. English media is being harsh on Giroud. He was good today, much better than the rest of his team. Pogba and Matuidi were largely useless, and Payet was carrying the entire squad. He missed no easy sitters and scored the opening goal. I’m far from Giroud’s biggest fan and think we need someone better, but media needs to lay off of him and give him the credit he deserves. Giroud is a good, solid striker and he came through today for his country, well done!

  3. Don’t no why just for once AW didn’t take care of who is coming in b4 tbe end of the season. CB john stones good player but no he’s to much for AW but chambers at 18 mill was fine? Just go pay just for once what we need. P F A great player but no vardy a 30 year old who won’t fit in our team. Think all the fans should not go to the games not buy the new tops just stop until the put him up stairs or sack him because we can’t live of pass glory. Enough now and Alexis
If he wants to go let him but not to a EPL club. No one is bigger then Arsenal no one. But AW needs to buy 4 more players we had MD go in jan MA MF TR CJ out for a year DW out for a year and more and then he says we need 2-3 in sorry we need to buy a captain we need class up front that can put 25 in the net coz O G just don’t cut it at all sorry 4 months and yet he still played him but left T W on the bench when you say to the kid now go prove yourself. We need a number 2 in place ready to take over not Steve bold it’s just all wrong at Arsenal it’s like a controlling domestic abuse relationship he has and won’t let go

      1. We currently have 27 players born 1994 or before, so 2 have to move on straightaway. Ospina and Macey out on loan does exactly that keeping szczesney and martinez (for homegrown reasons)

Then here is my next move top class centre back stonesin for Debuchy (improves the home grown quota) may be offer chambers on.loan as a sweetner

Mahrez payet and mkhitaran in for wellington campbell and Sanogo. Any of the 3 could be offered in part exchange.

Welbeck is out injured until February at least so bring in Vardy. Review the situation in January.

My final move would be for kante. If we can land him I would loan out chamberlain for a season. May be offer him to leicester as an apologetic sweetener for ripping the arse out of their team.

Officially promote Toral to the squad.
