Dortmund v Arsenal review – Gunners go missing AGAIN!!

Wenger picked the wrong team is what was wrong.
everyone was playing just like their usual self in the same way u saw it in Man City.

There’s Cazorla, ox, Chambers available, but instead, wenger opted for Ozil, Ramsey, Arteta.
ozil wasn’t so much the problem in terms of form, but this time it’s ramsey and Ozil both not quite sure what they role in the game is.

I’m not going to say Ozil or Ramsey played like sh*t this time because all their lacking performance is more because of wenger than anything.
Ozil is being used as a defense to attack connector more that an attack initiator, the later being the thing he’s better at. He’s basically giving all the chances to start something to Wilshere and sanchez, who looked lively, but the problem is both of them could find Welbeck, who seems to be in wrong place more than you want him to be.
Ozil didn’t do great, but he didn’t do anything wrong either.

Ramsey, who’s better running down midfield now does much less of that because:
A)sanchez is hardworking enough in front.
B)Wilshere dribbling down mid lane is taking away Ramsey’s room.

I’m worried that playing them together will eventually lead to Ramsey losing confidence because of him being lost in his role on the pitch.

Both of these is wenger’s problem. there’s Cazorla to pick instead of Ozil, who although didn’t do anything wrong per say, is definitely exhausted from the man city game and should’ve given OX the chance.

Ox should’ve been played down the right. Not only could he cover for bellerin in defense if needed, but his off the ball running is more on the flanks than through the middle which could’ve made ALL the difference, because wilshere is already doing what ramsey is.

Arteta is and Mertesacker simply couldn’t keep up with the pace, and at least 1 of them should’ve been benched.

I would prefer benching Arteta over Mertesacker, as the problem in this game for us is not just fatigue, but also the oppositions’ constant harass causing us to lose possession.

play Chambers in DM, sit back as a 1/2 centre back along with mertesacker and Koscielny, then the midfield harass would’ve been less effective, and there can be a bit more steel.

arteta’s role as a deep plying playmaker is also overlapped by one of wilshere and Ramsey on the field. That basically render’s arteta’s role useless, and he’s reduced to a mere ball passer, as evident in this game.

so then the game would still be a 4-1-4-1, with Chambers DM and still mid duo jack and aaron.
lw sanchez and rw ox.

than you would have both flanks bombing forward on and off the ball along with jack or aaron dribbling or running down the middle.
when the harass gets really aggressive, we can compress and let one of wilshere and ramsey stay deeper.

without that space from behind, welbeck is rendered completely useless, as we all know he isn’t the guy who can finish under lots of pressure. we should’ve played a tad bit deeper instead of high pressing to preserve some energy, and play more through the flanks to burst through with pace.

dortmund’s pressing will eventually lead to over commiting, and that’s when we can hit in the counter.

this won’t lead to a sure win, but i’m sure it give us more chances that we had this game.

Yet again, wenger doesn’t understand that it takes 1 game for another team to reveal your weakness and you’ll have to make changes to avoid being caught out.

what bothers me even more is that wengr had the guts to let bellerin play RB over Chambers(and chambers is on the bench), but ended up not resolute enough to altogether get rid of arteta and op for chambers playing DM as well.
