Edu brings massive ambition to Arsenal after audacious transfer attempt

It has been widely reported over the last couple of days that Arsenal’s new technical director Edu tried to sign Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior in the summer transfer window.

There were multiple reports in the summer that the Spanish giants were trying to use the 19-year-old forward as a makeweight in their attempts to lure Paris Saint Germain’s Neymar or Manchester United’s Paul Pogba to the Bernabeu.

However, despite being willing to allow the Brazilian youngster to leave in some sort of convoluted swap deal, they were not prepared to sell him outright to Arsenal, according to the Brazilian outlet UOL.

To be honest, I am not that bothered about players that we failed to sign, I have no doubts that there many but I am pleased to read the ambition being shown by Edu and the club.

Vinicius Junior is a fantastic player and would have been a great signing and attempting to sign such a player does show the direction Arsenal are going in.

For too many years Arsenal has signed too many mediocre players, of course, on occasion they have made some headline signings like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, but more often than not the sort of player that has been signed by the club in recent years have been distinctly average.

I have not really looked forward to transfer windows over the last few years, especially in January, however, I am looking forward to the upcoming winter transfer window because the feeling I get is that the club will surprise us once again with a top signing.
