Emery confirms Arsenal will play some youngsters against Tottenham

I guess it is no big surprise that Unai Emery will be rotating his Arsenal players for the League Cup quarter-final against Tottenham tomorrow, as we really must concentrate all our efforts on keeping our top players fit for the race for the Top Four after dropping behind on Sunday.

He said in his pre-match conference yesterday: “Our first idea is that we play with the best players that we can use tomorrow in this derby. The opposition is very big and it’s demanding a big performance from us tomorrow. We can use some young players because we think with a big performance, they can help us win tomorrow.”

It will help Emery to know that Tottenham will also be rotating their team, and for the same reason, but it is still a North London Derby and also a chance to try and get past the semi-final and book a trip to Wembley, which always cheers up the fans (except for last season of course!). Our embarrassing defeat to Man City was one of the low points of last season and from that day on the fans stopped turning up at the Emirates and ultimately ended with Arsene Wenger’s departure.

But, as I said earlier, I believe that Unai Emery will be very keen to win this competition and will put out the strongest side he can, while still keeping an eye out for next weekend’s match against Burnley. In fact I am quietly confident.

What do you think?
