Everything will be much clearer for Arsenal in just a few days

As a stand-alone event, the Europa League final is very important for Arsenal, it is a chance for our first European silverware in over two decades and a magnificent street parade on Thursday but it is also the time that so much more will become clearer.

On Thursday we will know if we are in the Champions League next season, we will know the sort of transfer budget we will have and the sort of player we can attract.

Victory against Chelsea on Wednesday night means that Unai Emery can begin to transform the team that was a great disappointment domestically with some big-name signings, offload some of the deadwood and start the process of turning us into title contenders.

A loss means we are condemned to Europa League football for another season, stick with a low-level transfer budget, probably forced into keeping some of the average players and most likely struggle to finish top-four next season.

The problem right now and it is as frustrating as hell is we simply do not know which road we will be taking, will it be the high road to Europe’s elite competition and the pursuit of top quality acquisitions or the low road and all that comes with that.

By Thursday we will have so much more clarity, if we lose to Chelsea then at least we can then come to terms with the situation, if we beat the Blues then we can look forward to a whole new era under our Spanish manager.

So, Wednesday evening is so much more than winning European silverware it is about providing clarity on what sort of Arsenal we will have to become accustomed to and in the big picture that is so much more important.
