VIDEO EXTRA – Arsenal loanee Chuba Akpom scores a great goal to beat Anderlecht

Chuba Akpom was a prolific goalscorer for Arsenal when he played at the lower age levels including the U23 side, but when he came up  to the senior side his talents (or confidence) deserted him completely.

But now he has gone out on loan to Sint-Truiden in Belgium’s top League, and he has scored a cracker in only his second start for the Belgian minnows as they beat the local giants Anderlecht this weekend.

He was understandably over the moon after scoring his first senior goal since he was on loan at Hull City over two years ago. Akpom tweeted: “Solid 1-0 win against Anderlecht. Buzzing to get my first goal for Sint-Truiden,”

Have a look at it here….

If only he could have scored goals like that in the Premier League. But you never know, maybe playing for Sint-Truiden could find him regaining his old confidence and he could come back to the Emirates next season as our new goal machine!

  1. Took his goal well, but not great goal. Another young gunner who is not likely to make the grade. Best of luck but has done little for the club yet.

  2. Well done to the lad.
After the club off loads flops
    Wellbeck and Perez in the
    summer maybe Akpom will
be brought back as a LANS 🙂
    Free too.
Put him on pay as you play contract à la Wilshere.

    1. Barryglik please explain how Lucas Perez was a flop at Arsenal? Please look at his goals/assists for games played.

      1. Premier League stats: 11 games, 1 goal, 0 assists. Briliant.

His other goals came against the likes of FC Basel and Nottingham Forest.

He had one decent season with Deportivo, one! Never should have worn an Arsenal shirt, just not good enough.

  3. Dont mean to be negative, but I dont see Akpom as an Arsenal striker. After Sanchez and Henry, we need player who can burst in the final third, technically gifted, nice first touch, composed. The vardy, Benteke kind of strikers simply isnt reliable and consistent.

    1. I seconded
      That isn’t a great goal.
This mediocrity is spreading way too fast to justarsenalnews’ writers.
