Will FA cup help Arsenal and Leicester and hurt Spurs?

It looks like the scheduling of the fixtures in the Premier League this weekend has given Arsenal a rare piece of good fortune. A bit late maybe but we will take anything we can get at the moment. Arsenal still need to secure a Champions League spot for next year and we want to get it done as soon as possible and not still be worrying about it in the last few weeks of the season.

As well as that, however, Arsenal fans are still hoping that we can finish above Tottenham and keep the north London rivals where they belong, looking up at the Gunners. We certainly do not want them catching Leicester in the title race, so the fixtures this week could have a double bonus.

The Foxes are hosting West Ham tomorrow, with the Hammers are still fighting for a top four finish. But they might struggle to bounce back from the midweek disappointment of losing the FA cup replay to Man United. A win for Leicester would put them 10 points ahead of the spuds with just four games left and our local rivals face a difficult away game at Stoke on Monday.

Hopefully they will start that game with Arsenal just three points behind them if we can take advantage of Crystal Palace, who are safe from relegation 11 points ahead of 18th placed Sunderland, and their main focus will surely now be on the FA cup semi-final with Watford next weekend.

So can the FA cup make this a happy weekend for Arsenal?

  1. This article just sums up what Arsenal has turned into in the last ten years under Wenger, a club with no ambition, just content with finishing fourth and finishing above Spuds. How pathetic! Come on true Gunner fans don’t settle for Mediocrity! This club belongs to us, not Kronke or Wenger! Wenger out, Diego Semione in!
