Giroud – Arsenal must win every single game

Olivier Giroud is in amazing form since returning from injury, and he did the business again yesterday with both goals in Arsenal’s 2-1 win over Newcastle. Amazingly his record against the Magpies now stands at 8 goals in 6 meetings so Newcastle should have tried to mark him better! Obviously Giroud knew about the record but didn’t let it bother him. “I’m not superstitious,” Olivier said on Arsenal.com.

“I started this game like normal and I am lucky to have great players around me who know me very well, so I try to put it in the net and that’s all I want.

“I got a bit lucky for the first one but I anticipated Danny’s deflection and for the second one, Santi knew where to put the ball and I tried to win my duel.”

In the longer view, Giroud is not aiming to give up on catching Chelsea, but just wants the Gunners to win every single game – and then see what happens….“It’s nice for the team because we are on a really good run, even if we were disappointed about the Champions League – we want to finish really strongly and finish in the best position by winning every single game.

“There’s still eight games to play so we need to focus on our games and step by step we’re going to see. First we need to win every single game and then after we need to see if City or Chelsea miss one of these steps.

“You never know, you have to believe in football and that’s why we want to win every single game.”

Having won 9 out of their last ten Premier League games, it doesn’t sound such an impossible aim to win the next 8 as well, although Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United may have other ideas. If we beat Liverpool in our next game then you just never know…..

  1. off topic goooners elclassico tonight who u supporting??? & what would be ur ideal result for the liverpool united game??

    1. I hate Manure to the extent which I don’t want see them anywhere near TOP4, so I say LFC win. Draw won’t be bad anyway.

  2. Not impossible at all
just concentrate on one game at a time.

I want to go into the Chelsea match with 8 PL wins in a row and in the FA Cup finals

    But Liverpool first.

  3. Of course im hoping for a draw between man u and liverpool! With both dropping points will be a great result for us! Coyg!

  4. The best result for us from Super Sunday between United and Pool is DRAW.

However if a team MUST win Liverpool victory should put lesser pressure on us.

    1. Third or fourth doesnt make a difference, we might have to play a qualifier but if you cant win that match well then you shouldnt really be there. Manu did win the game but that besides the draw puts least pressure on us as we have a six point lead on liv.

  5. Giroud is in form, and long may it continue!

Strikers take the plaudits and the criticisms, but credit where it’s due, he is playing very very well at the moment.

I’m not sure we need this so called ‘world class striker’ that some people bang on about.

There is NO guarantee with any player that they will be world class everywhere they go, aside from the obvious like Ronaldo and perhaps Messi..

So we need to celebrate what we have and perhaps think that IF Giroud had been fit at the start of the season, we might well be knocking closer on Chelsea’s door..

  6. If things continue this way, u, Giroud might just win a special bonus of having CK attend privately to you before every game.
