Good or Bad News? – Lacazette picked for France (And then decides to turn them down!!)

Unai Emery must be getting used to having most of the Arsenal squad in training during the international breaks, but we have now heard that, despite being left out of Didier Deschamps original France squad, Alexandre Lacazette has now been called up to replace Anthony Martial, who has pulled out with an abductor injury. Man United have also pulled out Paul Pogba out of the squad to face Holland and Uruguay.

The annoying thing is that Lacazette may not even get to play, as Deschamps also has Olivier Giroud, Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele available and who were all picked ahead of the Arsenal striker by Deschamps.

So what do you think? Is it good for Lacazette to get a chance to represent his country again? Or is it bad for Arsenal that he can’t relax and continue his training with Unai Emery?

BREAKING NEWS! Lacazette pulls out of France Squad!
A tweet from France’s official Twitter account said: ‘Alexandre Lacazette will not be able to feature. This decision was made following an exchange between Dr Franck Le Gall and his Arsenal counterparts,’

Well that is a turn up for the books. Has he given up on international football then? But good news for Arsenal!

  1. He is wise if he decides to reject the France call-up, because it would be highly improbable for him to displace the more specialized French attackers

Giroud is dominant in the air, Mbappe is lightning quick, Griezmann is a creative forward and Dembele is a highly skillful one. Lacazette’s most prominent skill is his finishing, but he is a jack-of-all-trades apart from his accurate shootings

Rather than wasting his time as a sub and might have a very slim chance to be included in the World Cup 2022 final team, he had better prove himself at Arsenal first. France would knock the door again if he is really a lethal goalgetter

    1. gotanidea, so Lacs most important attribute is his accurate finishing?
Apart from that, he’s “jack of all trades”?
Sounds like a complete centre forward to me!!

If France knock at the door again, I have a feeling he might just have another minor injury, at least and until the French manager treats him with the respect he feels he deserves.

      1. “Sounds like a complete centre forward to me!!”

Fully agree with this part Ken. I am biased when it comes to Laca though 😛

  2. I hope hes not injured…

Any hope of us signingg Thorgan Hazard? Hes been great this season, gone under the radar.

His all-around play is fantastic and he can operatw both wings.

    1. Thorgan Hazard has been scoring for fun so far, but I’m not sure whether he can be as consistent as Eden Hazard or not. I remember Thomas Lemar did well in one season at Monaco too before his form dipped and the most hyped Bundesliga winger Leon Bailey is also not doing well now

Having another good scoring right-footed winger is nice, but we already have it in Nelson, Aubameyang and Welbeck. I’d prefer if Arsenal chase a left-footed right winger instead, like Florian Thauvin or Nicolas Pepe

      1. We have it in Welbroke?
Can’t blame me for that name, not like he has proven otherwise 🙁

Nelson, Auba and Iwobi I could understand but Welbz hasn’t signed a new deal and out for a while, might as well not have him currently for all the contributions he can make on the field. No disrespect meant for Welbz.

I know I’ve said this before to others (Maybe you got) and I know it is a small thing but wingers and inside forwards are different types of players, a winger is more like an AM on the wings.. hence where the term WINGer comes from.

It helps in recognising the modern fullback and how they are being utilized as a winger to accommodate the team not having a winger, when in attack, the fullback IS the winger.

This little frustration of mine stems from seeing SkySports list us as a 442 and DB10 as a CF, when watching the game I noticed we wasn’t in a 442 formation and since I have recognised it as the birth of 4231 in Arsenal and the formation Wenger refused to budge from for so long. I remember UTD fans trying to say DB10 wasn’t that good because he didn’t score enough as a CF and GRRRRRR It bugged me lol. Now we recognise the ACM as a creative force and we don’t put as much emphasis on the ACM scoring, we want them to score 😛 but we recognise they are not the CF. Sorry for the long post and getting OT, no hate or anything either 🙂
