Granit Xhaka and Euro team of the tournament – What’s yours?

Team of the Euros so far by Galen.

1) Goal keeper. I had Gianluigi Buffon as my keeper. Together with the Italian Back they have been perfect.

2) Right back- Darijo Srna. Kyle Walker has had a very good tournament for England. But the Croatian captain has shown again that age is just a number. At 34 he is still rock solid and a perfect right back. He showed again great character by leaving the tournament to bury his dad but came back a few days later with some great performances.

3) Left back. Jordi Alba. Danny rose, Rodriguez and Hector have had some great games but I cannot look past the Barcelona man. He is not just a left back, he is good footballer. He understands the game.

4) CB : Leonardo Banucci: For so many years now he has been one of the best CB in the world. Pep Guardiola calls him perfect. He is a rock solid ball playing CB and at the age of 29 he is just peaking as a CB.

5) CB: Giorgio Chiellini: I just couldn’t look pass the Italian Cb pairing. These two guys have played together for sometime now.

6) CM: Granit Xhaka. I have been very impressed with Eric Dier, Daniel de Rossi, and Kante, but Granit has been the man so far. He is not just a limited footballer who tries to just tackle and make interceptions. He is the full package. With 307 passes attempted and 283 passes completed with 92% passing accuracy. Well we have just signed the new Xabi Alonso. He has the second most amount of passes in the competition. His team mates trust him….

7) CM: Toni Kroos: Well when Juventus said they wanted Kroos plus money for Pogba? Crazy! Toni Kroos in my opinion is the best central midfielder in world football. He is just a complete footballer. With 353 passes attempted and 328 completed he has made the most passes in the competition so far with 93% passing accuracy. I have also been impressed with Rakitic and Modric both of Croatia.

8) AM: Andres Iniesta. I don’t think we shall see a midfielder like him. may be not in the next century. He doesn’t score as many goals as Lampard or assist as much as Ozil, but believe me we are lucky to be watching Iniesta play football. I hope you all enjoy him why he is still playing.

9) RW: Gareth Bale: he has had a great tournament so far and Wales top their group. So it’s easy to put him out there. With 3 goals scored in the tournament so far he is a key player.

10) LW: Payet. Am still surprised at how West Ham got him. He was available for 10 million after his best season in France and nobody went for him. This is a top class footballer who has got qualities in every aspect.

11) Striker: Alvaro Morata. To be honest it has been a very poor championship for strikers. It’s very difficult to pick any striker really as teams have been very good defensively. Morata is the highest goal scorer so i would just pick him.
