Last Sunday’s 1-0 victory against Manchester City was memorable; it was our first over them since 2015. Much has been said about the victory; nevertheless, don’t you believe it’s past time for opponents to take us seriously? We’ve proven that you can’t describe us as a one-hit wonder. Mikel Arteta has now defeated every team we’ve faced during his tenure as manager. Teams should now dread us; if they don’t and try to underestimate us, they’ll be in for an unpleasant awakening.
Before the Arsenal vs. Manchester City game, Haaland spoke with Sky Sports. While on the spot, he had the opportunity to at least show some respect to us, given that we were Manchester City’s key rivals for the title last season and are not like any other team.
However, the Norwegian’s statements implied that he did not see us as a major challenge. When asked what he thought of the game and what he did differently in preparation, he said: “I don’t know; I didn’t think too much about it [Arsenal], to be honest.”
The interviewer then asked, “Is that the right mindset, then?”
Haaland replied, “We come here and play our game, and that’s the focus, I think.”
It’s worth noting that the 2022–23 Premier League Golden Boot winner had a terrible game against us. Some of us joked that he was in William Saliba’s pocket for the duration of the match. The French international was fantastic at keeping Manchester City’s goal machine quiet, preventing him from getting a sniff of goal and preventing him from even registering a shot on target. I suppose the next time he faces us, he’ll have to take his time and devise a strategy for breaking through our solid-block defense.
