Have Arsenal given up on keeping Mesut Ozil?

Mesut Ozil is nearing the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract, but have the club given up on agreeing new terms.

The German international is one of a number of number of players who have so far failed to agree contract terms over a new deal, with Alexis Sanchez, Jack Wilshere and even manager Arsene Wenger having failed to extend their deals thus far.

Ozil was believed to be happy at the club, and was keen on staying at the club, despite negotiations having failed to go sailing, and reports now claim that Arsenal have given in.

It’s speculated that the 28 year-old had been willing to accept the latest terms, having previously tried to hold out for a whopping £250,000 per week wage, but the club are no longer willing to work on such a deal.

It is claimed that a price-tag has now been placed on Ozil’s head, worth £42 Million, and clubs looking at bringing him in this summer will now have to consider the fee they are willing to pay.

Mesut has come under fire on numerous occasions with fans questioning his work-rate and fight, while Arsene Wenger has always defended his statistics, which show his creativeness is rarely off-

Fans will not be too unhappy at his departure, especially if £42 Million could be recouped following his departure, and no doubt his replacement will have to be of top quality.

We will be expecting a busy transfer window regardless of whether the former Real Madrid man stays or not, while Arsene Wenger’s future is likely to play the biggest role in our summer.

Would anyone be unhappy to see him go? Is he key in our future in the newly-favoured 3-4-2-1 formation?
