How U21s could be FANTASTIC for Arsenal stars

I am including the Arsenal right back Carl Jenkinson in this as well as Calum Chambers and Serge Gnabry, even though it looks like Jenks will be spending another season on loan away from the Emirates stadium. After a good season with West Ham, a good summer tournament with England could really help him to keep progressing and to convince Arsene Wenger to bring him back into the Arsenal fold.

But I was thinking more about Chambers and Gnabry, who will be hoping to feature heavily for England and Germany respectively. The dynamic winger/forward did not manage a single minute of action for the first team last season due to a long injury lay-off but he did come back to play for the reserves, scoring three goals from his eight games.

A lot of fans seem to have forgotten the young German but he was forging a good name for himself before that injury and will be keen to remind us all of his talent in the Euro championships this summer. Gnabry will have just turned 20-years old when the new season begins and with the confidence of some good games for Germany behind him, I reckon he could really shine for us.

The situation with Chambers is a bit different because he did feature quite a lot for Arsenal in his debut season, with 28 starts and eight sub appearances in all competitions. But he must be disappointed with his lack of game time in the latter stages and it looks like he will find it just as hard to get into the team ahead of Debuchy and Bellerin next time.

That is why this Under 21 competition could be great for him, as it looks like Gareth Southgate will use him in central defence and that seems to be Wenger´s long term plan as well. If Chambers impresses in that role for England then he will be much more likely to be trusted to do the same for Arsenal.

So let us wish the three young Gunners all the best and hope to see them all shining in the red and white again soon…
