If PSG hijack Torreira deal, could N’Zonzi be the back-up plan?

The original reason for the delay of Lucas Torreira to Arsenal was said to be that we were waiting to announce after the World Cup, but it has since been revealed that the talks are nowhere near completion, and with the Uruguayan’s performances at the World Cup making him an even hotter property than he was before, there are sure to be other offers forthcoming. The latest rumours are saying that even moneybags PSG are now showing interest in which case we will probably be outbid easily.

But surely Arsenal won’t have put all their eggs in one basket and will be looking at other targets for his postion, and one favourite must be Emery’s old midfielder at Sevilla, Steven N’Zonzi. The ex-Stoke man was made into a world-beater under Emery and he said before joining France at the World Cup: “I am feeling very good at Seville but they are not the biggest club in Europe,”

“Playing with high profile players in a big team could be a good progression for me. We all know that the transfer window is open but we don’t talk about it that much.

“There is a big tournament coming up and changing teams is not the main worry in the group.”

Right now we are currently recruiting highly experienced winners to get us back into the Top Four so N’Zonzi’s age shouldn’t be a problem. No one can deny that we desperately need someone like him so, if Torreira gets hijacked, why shouldn’t we go for the man with extensive Premier League experience?
