Insider confirms club wants forgotten Arsenal man

Pablo Mari was one of the first Arsenal signings under Mikel Arteta as the Spaniard made a surprise move from Flamengo to the Emirates.

His ball-playing ability as a centre back made him one of Arteta’s favourites at the start of the Spaniard’s reign at Arsenal.

However, the Gunners have since bolstered their defence with the likes of Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes and he is now down the pecking order at the club.

Every player wants to play regularly, and it is no different for Mari, who has now been linked with a return to Flamengo.

The former Manchester City defender did well during his earlier spell with the Brazilian club and they believe he can still reproduce that form if he returns.

Mauro Sant’Anna, a Flamengo dedicated YouTuber, has delivered the latest update on his future and insists they want him back.

He says Flamengo would jump at the chance to sign him even if it is on loan, but there is a problem.

Sant’Anna says the Brazilian club would struggle to pay all his wages now and Arsenal would have to accept a formula whereby they would pay most of it while he plays for the Brazilian club.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Mari hasn’t been such a bad signing, but neither has he been such an excellent one either.

The defender can do a job, but his lack of pace leaves him exposed in some of his outings for Arsenal.

The Gunners will add more defenders to their team as they continue rebuilding, and it might be best for Mari to leave the Emirates now.

  1. Mari I rate as a quality defender just needs more play time, as he’s been bothered with injury’s and not getting played to get used to settle as a partner to the centre backs.

  2. Poor signing, waste of good money and as slow as a donkey. Another player we will be stuck with, not even a good back up. Why did we buy him?
