Is Arsenal’s ‘Wenger situation’ being handled badly, dishonestly, or what?

Bad or dishonest management at Arsenal? by AndersS

It is, of course, very difficult to find out, what actually goes on inside the management of Arsenal. By management I mean not only Arsene Wenger, but also the executive management and the board and owners.

But it seems fair to sum up Arsene Wenger’s situation to 2 different possibilities. Either his future with the club is still unresolved, or, as some suggest, he has in fact already agreed a new contract to stay on as manager.

If the latter is the case, we are witnessing a manager, who is blatantly lying to fans and to the press, which I would find not only very difficult to believe, but also totally unacceptable. As a fan I would feel cheated, and I also think it is a disgrace for the club with a manager lying openly and it would also mean, that several other persons inside the club are “part of the plot”. In itself a big problem, if our club is managed by persons with so little integrity. So I really hope, this is not the case.

But if the situation is, that Arsene Wenger’s future still isn’t decided, then it is just as bad, only in a different way. It is unbelievable, that we should have a management, which have allowed the club to end in a situation, where the uncertainty of the manager’s future and several top player’s futures are allowed to go on and on. The manager himself would clearly be thinking more on his own interests than those of the club, if he actually sees it as a possibility, that he can walk out in a month’s time, leaving the club without a manager. And the rest of the management certainly aren’t doing their job, if they have allowed this to be the situation.

So either way, it seems like we have a really bad management or a dishonest management. I wish neither were the case.

But if there should be another scenario, which would actually redeem not only Arsene Wenger but also the management, it should be something like this. They are actually working on a new plan, which could include a new manager, but as he is still in another job, it can’t be revealed.

This, I would accept, and I would readily apologize for the points above.

Unfortunately, I have my doubts.
