Is Ozil really happy at Arsenal?

The speculation surrounding Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Arsene Wenger hasn’t dropped in the media’s interest, despite news suggesting that all three had seen major developments.

For Wenger, he has now decided on his future and he is supposedly set to make an announcement ‘very soon’. For Alexis and Ozil, news was announced by Arsenal that the club has stopped all negotiations with the duo, after it became apparent they weren’t going to talk during the course of the campaign. With no new decision set to be made, you’d expect that the media attention may fall a little; however the speculation continues and it seems to have begun to bother Mesut Ozil a little.

Ozil has probably received the least media attention out of the three named above. Alexis and Wenger hold the biggest saga’s whilst Ozil seems to just be on the sidelines. Ozil has made a comment on his future however, with the German international saying: “To speculate now would be wrong. At the end of the season we will see, there will be talks. I’m very happy at Arsenal and in London.”

Ozil, who is currently on international duty with Germany, recently came under fire by the press after it was suggesting he defied manager Arsene Wenger. Rumours suggested that Ozil lied about his injury concerns to rule himself out of the Gunners’ trip to West Brom. It was speculated that Ozil would as a consequence, be considered for transfer, something I find quite unrealistic.

I have no doubt that the German is actually happy in London. I’m sure he has his frustrations with the club, but he’s always been keen on saying how he likes the family feel of Arsenal and the culture of the City. I think out of the two contract rebels, Ozil is the more likely to sign. Whilst with Alexis, negotiations about ambition and finances is something that will receive heavy discussion.

Is Ozil truly happy in London, if so, why hasn’t he already signed on the dotted line?
