Is Szczesny throwing away his career completely?

When the Poland and Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny was made into a first team regular at the young age (for a keeper) of 21, he seemed to have the world at his feet and a long and distinguished career awaited him as the Gunners Number One.

Arsene Wenger had great confidence that he would go on to become an Arsenal legend, and backed him to the hilt after every error he made. But all that support suddenly disappeared when he was caught smoking (for the second time) in the shower after commiting two howlers against Southampton on New Years Day this year. Wenger was outraged and reportedly fined him 20,000 Pounds and immediately dropped him in favour of David Ospina.

Szczesny continually vowed to fight for his place and claimed that he wanted to stay at the Emirates for his whole career, but Ospina played so well that the Pole never got a look in for the rest of the season. Meanwhile Arsene Wenger was lining up Petr Cech for the summer, and Woj was still hoping to stay on as understudy.

But Wenger persuaded him it would be good for him to go out on loan to get regular playing time, and so he was shipped off to Roma in the summer. But now he has put all that in jeopardy once again. He had the pleasure of conceding six goals from Barcelona in midweek and afterwards (you’ll never guess!), yes he was caught smoking again!

Now he has been dropped by Roma boss Rudi Garcia, and his weakness for the weed may have relegated him to the bench for the rest of his loan spell. Roma have already hinted that they have a new keeper lined up for next season, so it looks like Szczesny will be returning to Arsenal. How will we persuade anyone else to take him on loan if he keeps sparking up after a bad game……

  1. truth be told cech has already saved us what 9 points and a win or two in champs league.
shez is still inconsistent, still has a questionable attitude, has shown no real improvement.

dont want him here, we lookd so nervous at the back with him between the sticks-he never brought confidence-

ot- wtf gary neville is the new valencia coach-anyone see that coming?

    1. To be fair, any young kid with Mertesacker and Arteta in front of them would be nervous. He was joint golden glove winner with Cech the season before Ospina came and he just needs maturity imo.

  2. szczesny is the engineer of his own downfall……… GoodLuck to anyone trying to rescue his career!

    .

We are okay with Cech, ospina and malen….. End of

    1. Ospina could be off to Turkey,
He liked 2 tweets posted on a turkish clubs site,
Which were linked to signing him in January.

  3. One can only hope Martinez and Macey come good, I have lost hope of Schez or Ospina taking up the number 1 shirt and actually do what Cech does, if not the club should be on a look for a top keeper when the time comes.

OT: Big congrats to Gary Neville, sky sports has lost there number 1 pundent. Hope King Henry can follow his footsteps and land a big job so we see what his got.

    1. Cigarettes but for some reason the author decided to talk crap about weed. This is yellow journalism at its finest and shouldn’t be allowed on an Arsenal site.

  4. I heard that Szczesny got dropped because he kept tormenting Gervinho during training.

?⚽ ” Oi Gervinho, the difference is I’m on loan
and you got sold because your ?.. See if you can header my B&H butt end… you headless chicken”

    ?⚽ “Oooops”

    ????
    ambulance for Gervinho!

  5. Szczesny needs help to help him out of his smoking habit and addiction. Does he regocnise that, and does he want the help? If he does, let him seek for help to help him out of his dilemma. And has he settled with his Dad? If he hasn’t, let him hurry up to do that. At the end of the day, no one will help him like his Dad would.

  6. To be honest I don’t want Szczęsny back..he has shown lack of consistency in his keeping abilities (costing us multiply times) and now caught smoking again… we can do better Simone Scuffet or Mattia Perin for our second choice..both are young very talented and can learn alot from Cech..as soon as Cech is ready to step down we would have his replacement ready to go!!!

  7. I thought the Roma coach said he was not dropped for smoking.anyway I have watched a couple of Roma games and szczesny has not improved at all.his command of his backline is still the same ,very poor. I really like the lad.
