Is this the end of Casillas to Arsenal transfer rumours?

I must admit to having been a bit bemused at the many Arsenal transfer rumours linking the Gunners with a move for the Real Madrid and Spain star Iker Casillas. They have been appearing in the football media for some time now, at least a year, but the veteran stopper may finally have put an end to them by declaring that he has not intentions of leaving the club he joined as a promising nine year old, as reported by Metro.

There have been rumours that the Spanish giants are looking for a new number one ever since he fell out with Jose Mourinho a few years ago and I could have understood him wanting to leave in that situation but Casillas has since seen off the challenge of Diego Lopez and even though they signed the Costa Rican international Keylor Navas last summer, Casillas has started the vast majority of their games in La Liga.

Then there is the question of why Arsenal would want to sign him if his standards had declined, so these rumours have not really made a lot of common sense. On the Arsenal side of things, it is now looking as though Wenger may not sign any new keeper after declaring himself perfectly happy with David Ospina and Wojciech Szczesny. What do you guys make of it all?

  1. No Casillas, even if we were to sign a new goalkeeper I am hoping it will be Cech instead. I do think Ospina needs to improve on his handling.

    1. Are you going with emotion or skill?

5 years ago I would have taken the Pac. Now he just cant sustain to wear Mayweather down. He did knocked out; remember that?

      1. @ArseneIsYourDaddy
        He’s clearly rollin on emotion…
Listening to Manny now. HE thinks he won the fight…LMFAO!!!

      1. F*ck mayweather I wanted pacquio to win but mayweather definitely won the fight so hats off to him

  2. Cech wants play not bench so
    he would immediately take over
as no 1. Its a tricky one.
But if picking Cech turns 5 draws
into wins then that would be
    the winning of the Premiership.
    Its worth serious consideration.
Do what will win us the premiership I say.

    1. Please, Chelsea will sell Cech to Europe for a Euro before selling to Arsenal.

  3. I wld prefer Illoris….younger and better…French and will coordinate well with the rest…

  4. No more Casillas? Great! Don’t want him taking over Ooooospina’s #1 position. He doesn’t seem like the Casillas we used to know
